Spyware in Skins?

Is it possible to have spyware in the skins? I have problems with the skin 'retro' which comes with windowsblind installation. when the skin is applied and while browsing (ie. at mail.yahoo.com trying to attach a file in the attachment window) maxthon browser is getting closed automatically by ad-watch. and its blocked the tracking cookie user@atdmt.com. this is only happening with the retro skin applied... when i try with some other skin the file browser dialog windows is displayed properly and no other tracking cookie is set. is it possible that only that 'retro' skin is loaded with some spyware?


Any help would be appreciated

There is nothing in the retro skin except what is supposed to be there. Do some spyware scanning.

Spybot, Ad-Aware and MS Antispyware. Install all three and bob's your uncle...

I did the spyware scan with ad-ware,MS antispyware and trendmicro. they say the system is clean. but it is only happening with the retro skin.?

As far as i know, spywares should be included (perhaps) in some Winamp skins through scripts ... (maybe i'm wrong ...)

You should also beware of a spyware site for supposedly free full version games http://www.justfreegames.com/ They all are free full version games , but each one installs crap that gunks up your machine more and more full of spyware.....

If by spyware, you mean gumdrops and sunshine, then yes it should be included.

If by spyware, you mean spyware, then no, spyware shouldn't be included in anything, anytime, anywhere.

What i mean, is if one skin may include spyware, it may be a Winamp skin

Don't see why Winamp would be more likely to have spyware. Why would anyone put spyware in a skin anyway? Sure there are assholes all over, but I don't think they would put the time and effort into making a skin just to screw with people.

I think neophil78 means that the format of a winamp [5x] skin 'could' contain/conceal executable coding or spyware, whereas, for example, a bootskin couldn't, being 'transparently' 2 simple bitmaps and a text file...

You guys are so critical of people's spelling.

Anyway, I get that spyware could be hidden in a skin, but as I said, why would someone go to the trouble of designing a skin, just to spread spyware around? There are more efficient ways of causing trouble.
