Today I got fed up with the slowness I've been experiencing lately in Internet Explorer while developing a new web application for my job, and decided to try and narrow down the problem. At first I thought it was a problem with the site itself, as I hadn't noticed the problem on other sites, but testing on a different machine quickly told me that wasn't the problem.
After trying several different things, I tried disabling WindowBlinds on my machine, and it works fine now. Apparently it's a problem with WindowBlinds reacting to IE form controls. When I go to load a page with form controls on it, IE will just freeze for awhile (hourglass, non-responsive). Sometimes less than a second, sometimes as much as 5 seconds. The more form controls on the page, the longer the delay. It also does this thing where sometimes the first text I type into an input field takes 2-3 seconds to show up. Disable WB, and everything's fine.
The really strange part is, this doesn't seem to apply to other web pages, just mine. There's heavy JS usage on the pages in question, if that has anything to do with anything. I can send the page that it does it the worst on if anyone's interested.
I don't know if this is specific to the WB5 beta or not, as I wasn't working on these pages before the beta came out. I've tried a few different skins, which made no difference.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar to this, or is it just some random quirk between my pages and WB?
