Default XP Bootskin Location

Where and what to look for...

Would one of you fine folks out there be able to tell me where I might locate the default boot screen file (not in the boot skin app, but in the OS) is located? I have a dual booting machine that I have the Media Center shell on one partition and the other is configured without all that junk, for digital audio recording. My trouble is I use the Media Center shell "idea" to seperate my two partitions. Once I added SP2 to the everyday partition I get a simple XP professional boot screen. I want to swap that screen for the other partition's Media Center boot screen to cut down on the confusion. Any help would be appreciated. I have heard of many places that darn file is but I just cannot seem to locate it. I'll bet one of the wise fellows (or gals) that frequent this board will know just where I can rip this out of my OS's and swap them.

do a search for... ntoskrnl.exe this is where the boot files are but, if your like me, i have several in different places, good luck

Yeah, I've heard that was the local for the boot screen, but rumor has it that that file may do a little more than just apply the boot screen... Any insight on that? I had googled it to death a while back and came up with a draw. Alot of people out there were saying it was merely for the boot screen others said it went a little deeper. I'm kind of paranoid...

DON'T DO IT. I did and lets just say HP is pretty mad at me for returning the pc to the store I bought it at.

Yeah, tried Bootskin. Most of the images look rather dull due to the nature of the file allowed for a boot screen. All I want to do is swap out the bitmap or what have you from SP1 to SP2. No one has a default Bootskin for Media Center. I don't think if I installed it on that partition I could get it to save that default and somehow transport it to the other partition and vice versa. I don't remember a save as command in bootskin. It rides on top of the default image is my guess; the default never goes anywhere, it just gets detoured... At least that's what my OS tells me when I select a diffent skin, that it has registered an executable blah, blah... When I put it on the default, it doesn't complain at all; i.e. there is no change being put in place; just the removal of the bootskin override app.
