Windows background

Is it possible with window blinds to make the window background transparent. What i want as an example is a folder on the desktop to hold shortcut icons to programs, when the folder opens you see the icons and frame but the background of that window is transparent and you see the desktop thru it. Can it be done and how? Thanks in Advance... Greg

If you are referring to a transparency similar to the current Start Panel transparency support, it is not currently supported in anything but the Start Panel (due to the resizing capabilities of explorer windows and the heavy use of system resources that would be required to produce the effect).

There are a few WindowBlinds that offer lower opacity in the whole explorer window (such as neOS found here Link). This is the only type of window transparency that I have seen offered to date in WindowBlinds.

I know that in older version of WB there was an option to make the background of Explorer transparent, even tint it. I can't remember if it simply set a registry setting (in that case it should be possible to set it without WB) or if it was a WB specific feature. I did a quick search, but I couldn't find any useful info.

I know that in older version of WB there was an option to make the background of Explorer transparent, even tint it.

From what I've read in the past, the feature was removed from WindowBlinds because XP can't support it.

That's weird because XP supported it fine for about a year. I think it was SP2 that screwed it up for XP users...

Don't know if this is what you're looking for exactly Link but it adds transarency effects to windows backgrounds with varying degrees
