Where can I go for Objectdock tutorials?????

Hi all,

I'm no stranger to desktop modding, but I'm no pro and I want to understand how to properly install docklets and themes for this. I've already tried some obvious methods and it seems to still not work... Also, does anybody here know. I can go to: ObjectDock Properties, then, Create, then, New 'start menu' Entry. And I get this awsome drop down menu of my program list. I was playing around with ways for this thing to turn any folder into a drop down menu and I can't get it to do that. Is that cause it simply won't, or is there a way. For instance, I was trying to make my Windows folder just drop down from ObjectDock, or perhaps Control Panel. Any input on this one?

Target the folder in a regular shortcut, and either hit "Display this folder as a menu" or else click and hold the shortcut for one second. That should get it doing what you want.

Hmm, tutorials. I am not sure of any for installing themes and such. Once you download a theme you should just need to extract it to the ObjectDock/Themes folder. Docklets just need to be extracted to the ObjectDock/Docklets folder. Most docklets will reside in their own folder in that directory. Once there they should work just fine.

Now, the Start menu, well that is a docklet, so you can't really change that too easily (that I know of), but you can create your own pretty easily. Right click on the dock and go to Add->New Shortcut. Once you have a blank, default shortcut in the Link area put the address for the folder you want (I just made one that linked to C:\Windows) and then click on the box that says "Show Folder in Menu" and there you go, any folder becomes one of those menus just like the Start menu docklet. You can also get the Control Panel on there, but sadly I can't recall how right now. Someone more knowledgeable than I can get you that.

Thanks for your replies. I think you may both be using the 'plus' version as I don't see any options for 'display this folder as a menu,' or 'show folder in menu.' I'm only using the freebie version. Is there a specific way to do it with the lower version?

Ah, that I can't tell you as installing it would overwrite my version (discovered this by experience!). Sorry. Hopefully someone else can.

Not a problem Blue. I unzipped my docklets in the docklets folder and they all worked like a charm (mostly) Thanks. Before I bow out, one last thing if you don't mind. Where can I find out how to use KKmenu? I put that in my docklets folder and nothing happened. Then I tinkered with it and it's not so 'user friendly.'

Sadly I never figured KKmenu out myself, so I will just wish you best of luck with you ObjectDock tweaking.
