yeah, now its just twice as bad with double the lack of respect and dicipline i really dont think much of generation Y

Its funny how the previous generation say this about the next.

My old man use to blow up mail boxes with cherry bombs, egg houses, climb up peoples fruit trees for a feed and give the owner the finger when was caught out. And yet he will say how generation X and Y has no respect.

When I think the same way with gen Y, I have to take a few moments and remember how as a teen, I was a complete so and so and use to drive my old man nuts.

I'm just wondering where the days of the early 2000s went.

Those days when the only computers in school ran Windows 98 and used Netscape.

That's what I remember from "computer lab". The most trouble I got in was installing StarCraft and using the school's "network" to run a LAN between myself and a few buddies. Not exactly smiled upon, but I didn't need to be told how to use a computer in school and found the teacher blabbing on for 45 minutes to be rather snooze-inducing.

Detention isn't so bad. lol

The first time I used a computer was in 1964.  It was a huge machine that filled a room and we "typed" rectangular holes in cards which were batched into a hopper.  It took all night to run a batch.  I remember thinking how nice it would be if we could actually see what we were typing.   

Fast Forward to the mid eighties.  I worked for a high tech DoD company and there was a network of terminals connected to a DEC Vax 11785 - the rocket ship of its time.  Everyone was expected to learn how to use a computer.  Fortunately, I was already DOS proficient.  We worked in a Unix environment and online searching was done via ARPANET (the future internet).  Most everyone enjoyed learning the "new stuff" but one engineer was a royal pain in the butt and he seemed to think I was his personal computer slave.  He gave the IT guys a hard time all the time and did some unbelievably dumb things over and over again.  He was not a nice person either.  He was so rude and nasty that I decided to do the only bad computer thing I've ever done in my life. 

Back in those days, there was no security so I turned on his terminal early one morning and set the type color to black - same as the background color. Of course, when he came in, he was ranting and raving and came looking for me because his terminal "didn't work."  I told him I had no idea what could have happened and we needed to call the computer department.  I thought they would figure it out quickly but they didn't!  They ended up bringing him a new terminal (expensive for the time) and I heard that it took them several days to figure out what really happened.  Of course, they blamed the engineer because he was always doing dumb stuff.  The engineer quit bugging me because I couldn't "fix" his terminal so I was demoted to just another dumb female in his eyes.       The next year we got PCs and Windows 3.1!  Woo Hoo!  Sooo there it is - my nefarious past.    Confession is good for the soul....  

About 5 years back I downloaded what I thought was an old sailing ship screensaver... turned out to be a slideshow of topless beauties instead.  Anyhow, that evening we got a visit from a policewoman with regard to a complaint we'd made, and you guessed it, the unattended screen started to display all these nuddy women and she spotted them.

Needless to say, I went several shades of ..... though the policewoman helped ease my embarrassment with a quip about one of the models: "Now there's a girl who shouldn't jog... not even in a sports bra." 

I think the naughtiest thing I ever did on a PC was wait until my mother went to bed and trawl one of the joke sites for a sassy cartoon I could set as a wallpaper.  After a conversation about aging and failing body parts one evening, the wallpaper I set for her to see first thing when she logged in the next morning was a cartoon of an old lady with her boobies caught in one of those old clothes wringers.  I don't recall the caption right now, but I do remember having to get her a cloth.... to wipe the tea off the screen.
