Yersterday a Journeyman uploaded a screenshot which gets an 'auto 6' as it bypasses moderation......that number is 'lost' when someone puts a 'real' rating on it.
Someone did.....a '1'.
It was patently obvious that the rating bore no reflection of the 'standard' of the skin detail, etc in the screenshot.
Since 'loading related to member ranking' has been applied when I gave it a '7', a number reflecting an above-average standard of screenshot, instead of 1 + 7 / 2 = 4 [again non-representational], it became '7', just as it should.
What this 'weighting' means is that with one new rating it 'may' affect the overall more noticably.....the new rating can be legitimate, fair and defensible, but might at times have a similar effect to the drive-by idiot who posts a '1' because he hates days that end in 'y', whatever.
Either way, if there's a rapid/odd change in overall ratings they'll be noticed and checked for unscrupulous intent.
The new 'star' system will [hopefully] make all this pre-occupation with numbers moot, as is its intent....
