AD PopUp blocker: Has anyone heard of StopZilla??

It says it has the approval of CNET's best product or Editors Choice award but I want to know if anyone here has used it.

For me, between Google toolbar, Netscape and Spybot Search and Destroy i am fine.

It does have allot of features though... and red buttons. I LOVE RED BUTTONS!!!

doesn't take much to copy that 'cnet seal of approval' gif and slap it on anything. could be spyware in disguise

mie2 has a built in blocker, as does mozilla and norton's internet security sofware.

STOPZilla 15-day trial then it's 19.95/29.95 a year

http://www.panicware.com/popupstoppercompare.html I used this one until I got TotalAccess from Earthlink which includes a popup stopper built-in

I just wondered about it. I have SpyBot so I guess it would be OK to test run it and see if its got any of those 'watch what I am doing' software in it.

Nah Stopzilla isn't spyware. Never hurts to run occasional spyware and/or ad-aware. i run them about once a week.

well it says it has all those features and pop up ad blockers. Feature Google does not have (And I am glad because then it would be a bloated toolbar)

It nice to have a second opinion on if it spyware or not. The program seems to good to be true.

Plus I haven't heard anyone talk about it so...
Just made me wonder with all the browser talk out there why this one wasn't mentioned.

Google toolbar http://toolbar.google.com is a 462kb download, takes up 732kb installed on my hardware, while actively searching for "popup ad blocking software" used 00 CPU 604k memory, 84 handles, 7 threads and returned 85,100 hits in 0.21 seconds. Not exactly bloatware, and by the way, I haven't seen a popup ad since I installed it a month ago.

no, no, no... I wasn't saying it was bloatware (Google) I was saying that it would be if it has all the features StopZilla has. (Mostly being because Google is a toolbar and not a full fledged program) So if Google did have all of that it would be, in my opinion, bloated.

But Google gets the job done. Does StopZilla get the job done as well?

I just wonder what good is StopZilla with all those features. Its a browser like MyIE so how come no one seen it or talked about it?

StopZilla is CNET Editors choice huh??? hmmmmmmmmmmm....

Sorry I misunderstood. I would guess the reason is IE + Spybot S&D + Google toolbar is free, and a one year subscription to STOPzilla is: Price before rebate: $29.95** Price after rebate: $19.95.

Explains why it's not more popular to me.

The google toolbar doesn't block ads, banners, ref logging, etc does it? (I don't know, I don't really use the bar too much)

I use Proxomitron.
With a good custom filter set, It does a lot more than the google bar does. Here's the filters I use.

Google toolbar is fine too, just depends on what you want.

google toolbar, and habit of ignoring all ads.

I automically ignore ads, and google toolbar eats the popups. I don't really need anything else.
