No system tray icon despite the option being set on in settings

When I boot the PC (either desktop or laptop), there is no system tray icon for deskscapes 11 despite the option being checked on. If I open settings after reboot and uncheck/check the option for system tray I see a system tray icon. But when I reboot it goes away again.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. There is known issue that currently Windows 11 is blocking what appear on its taskbar tray. Most other application, if not probably all, also having this same issue.

I tested this on Windows 11 Pro - 22635.3139; DeskScapes 11.00, and I experienced this issue. What I noticed was that in the Windows settings for the Taskbar>Other system tray icons, DeskScapes is listed as Windows Explorer instead of DeskScapes. I'm not sure if this is the problem, or it's supposed to be listed this way.

Strangely most of my taskbar tray icons don't show up on my system some will show up but will be gone upon reboot. Not really sure what is going on, always think it has to do with Windows 11.

Anyway, to be sure, I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Yes there has definitely been system tray issues in windows 11. There are various "workarounds" that don't seem to do anything such as deleting the icon cache and a couple of registry entries. Also, if your explorer.exe crashes and restarts you may lose icons in the system tray.

However, I think Windows 11 has become more stable in this area. I can't say exactly at what point. But I think even at 23H2 it was stable.

Thank for for forwarding the issue. I found this one curious in that you can get the system tray icon by just toggling the setting off and on in deskscapes. But unfortunately it will not persist across boots.

If you right click on the desktop and then click "More options," you have the same two options as the System tray icon.

I know about the right click on the desktop. You need multiple clicks to get there in windows 11. Right click and then left click on show more options. Anyway, the question is about the system tray. Clearly the software has an option for it that does not seem to quite work right.
