For context, I've tried all the window grouping software out there on Windows over the last few years and Groupy 2 is the first to have the feature that combines grouped windows into one taskbar button. This is really great because it removes the mess of having too many taskbar buttons and it makes switching between programs easier. It makes it feel like the grouped windows are one program which is great. However, there's an issue and it's the alt + tab menu. Even if you have grouped windows, the alt + tab menu will show all of the windows. This makes it feel so messy and more difficult for multitasking using alt+tab. For example, if I focus Window 1(No Group) and then focus Window 2(Group A) and then focus Window 3(Group A) and then alt+tab I end up back in Window 2. I think it's more useful to switch to Window 1, given that there are already Groupy 2 shortcuts to change between tabs.
I think an option to group windows to appear as one in the alt+tab menu would be incredible. It's really the only thing stopping me from purchasing Groupy 2. And from the limited knowledge that I have, I think it should be easily implementable using Windows API (specifically xxxx). Although I suppose it depends on how Groupy 2 is being programmed. I've even seen Autohotkey able to do it using "WinSet, ExStyle, +0x80".
Anyhow if implemented, I think there might be 2 ways of going about it:
1. All the grouped windows in the alt + tab menu get hidden and then Groupy 2 reproduces it's own window in the alt + tab menu that when clicked focuses/activates the last active window in the group. This method has the advantage of having it's own icon in the alt+tab menu & perhaps a custom thumbnail as the 'live preview' for easier/quicker identification. This assumes it's possible for Groupy 2 to reproduce a window in the alt + tab menu which I'm not sure if possible.
OR
2. All the grouped windows in the alt + tab menu get hidden except for the last active window in the group. This method means that it has the advantage of showing the group in the alt + tab menu as the last active window & it will show that specific window's live preview.
That is all, I just want grouped windows to feel grouped. Thank you.
