Maintaining scaling when changing resolution

I have my desktop set up the way I want it, but when I remotely access my desktop, at a lower resolution, the fences setup is changed. I have the setting "Store my fences' positions on a per-screen-resolution basis", but after remoting into my computer, when I return, the fences are resized and any icons not in a fence end up behind a fence.

How can I get fences to restore my desktop after remoting in?

I could do that, but why should I have to? Based on the option selected ("Store my fences' positions on a per-screen-resolution basis") isn't Fences supposed to remember the layout for each resolution?

While there may be things coming in Fences 4 to better handle that, it actually is 'remembering' the last resolution it was at - the one you had when you remoted in. No doubt that restarting Windows Explorer (the process that Fences run in) would restore it but that is just as much effort as reapplying the Fences layout.

The option "Store my fences' positions on a per-screen-resolution basis" is a bit misleading - it sounds like Fences will remember a separate desktop setup for each screen resolution.

I could be wrong, but I think that Fences used to remember it, as it used to preserve my setup. I only remote in when traveling, and haven't traveled much in the past year or so, but I never used to have this issue.
