I have a problem/bug on 2 different computers running fences. Windows 10, multiple monitors, V3.0.9.11.
It is consistent and reliably reproduced on both terminals. To my recollection, this has happened through multiple versions of fences. I have certainly experienced the problem for over a year, and have finally sorted out enough of what is happening to report it. I have uninstalled and re-installed fences multiple times and even have this issue, even on relatively fresh installations of windows.
--PROBLEM-- When a file on the desktop (In a fence or not) is selected and a new file is dragged to the desktop both files end up selected.
--DETAILED DESCRIPTION--
If I select an icon on the desktop "File1.PDF", then switch to Microsoft Outlook (for example) and drag an attachment "Attachment1.pdf" from an email to the desktop both "File1.PDF" and "Attachment1.PDF" are now selected. This happens regardless if File1.pdf is located in a fence or just on the desktop.
A common operation would be to renaming "Attachment 1" at this point. The result is both files will get renamed since they are both selected. This is frustrating as a user experience. Not sure if this is intended behaviour but it is not user friendly. It often results in the wrong files being modified, moved or copied. When the "Attachment1.PDF" file is created on the desktop in fences the "File1.PDF" should release its selection.
This only is what happens on when fences is enabled. When Fences is disabled, "File1.PDF" will deselect properly in native Windows.
If I use a copy command in outlook and then paste to the desktop the "File1.PDF" correctly deselects.
If I drag a file from an explorer window to the desktop "File1.PDF" properly de-selects.
So the problem seems to be related to drag functions only.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to resolve this issue or if this is a bug in the software.
Thanks for a great product and your attention to this matter.
Best Regards,
Neil
