Once upon a time I was a homeless person. I had nothing. I had my children taken from my by the Govt. because of my wife ( at the time ). I had given up. Didn't care about anything, even whether or not I lived.
Because of this, I spent some time on the bottom. So now, having come back from the depths, I have strong feelings about helping lost souls, people who have lost their way and need a hand in finding the way.... "Back Home."
So, in a chance to share, here are the lyrics, and the music, that keep me going, and inspires me to help others whenever I can.
I hope to inspire you guys to help when you can. These aren't just words. I lived it.
I met a rag doll with button eyes
Looking so lost and cast aside
Begging spare change beneath the shadows
Of a sunset street light
I dug down deep into my pockets
Couple dollars was all that I had
She reached out like it was treasure
She looked so far away when she said
And she said
Show me the way back home
'Cause I've been out there running
For way too long
And all that I've learned
Is just when you think
You've chased down every last mile
There's always another one
I need someone to show me the way back home
So many lost souls along the line
It wasn't so long THAT SOUL WAS MINE
Feeling forsaken, down on my knees
Needing some mercy, asking please
Show me the way back home
'Cause I've been out there running
For way too long
And all that I've learned
Is just when you think
You've chased down every last mile
There's always another one
I need someone to show me the way back home
Oh yeah, ooh oh oh
And all that I've learned is just when you think
You've chased down every last mile
There's always another one, I need someone, yeah
Yeah, I need someone to show me the way back home
So many lost souls along the line
It wasn't so long THAT SOUL WAS MINE
