So I could not for the life of me update WindowBlinds. It kept saying "decompression error." I downloaded it on three different computers, even over my cellular network.
Still "decompression error."
Based on logs for Windows Controlled Folder Access, it looks like there's some kind of sub-installer kicked off by the main one which isn't on Windows' list of trusted applications that gets blocked (unlike the main installer). Since this sub-installer is extracted to a temp directory unblocking it may not work because the path could change.
So turn off CFA during install (it's part of Windows Security built-in anti-virus).
Other Stardock applications with installers that extract other installers probably will exhibit the same behavior.
So the "turn off antivirus" advice is still correct, but might want to be expanded to include Controlled Folder Access.
