On the dock, I click an icon and go to Customize this icon. I choose Bundled Images > Applications where I distinctly know I put icons. The icons I know is there does not appear in the dialog box. WHY? I have tried changing it to square. I have tried changing the bit level since I see some of them are 32 bit. I don';t get it. WHat is the damn secret to having icons to choose from in ObjectDock. Nothing online that I found helps. Some of the ones in the folder appear and others don't. What is the secret for a usable icon in ObjectDock that does not appear in any documentation that I can find? I attached a link to a dual shot from my File Manager and from ObjectDock Customize Icon Windows. Not there is no copernic icon in the ObjectDock window.

Try changing the .png to an icon format. There are free online converters that will do this for you. Do a search for “png to icon”.
I will try, but there are other png files in the icon folder that show up just fine???? I also tried jpg already and that didn't work. And I assume you are talking about an ico file?
Converted but not a transparent background like all the other icons. It works as far as showing up, but this still doesn't answer my question as to what I need to have a transparent background icon show up here for selection and use.

Your icons may be sized incorrectly.
.png’s should work, .jpg’s don’t. If you are using OD on Win 10 it may cause some problems. OD is not compatible with 10.
As BigDog said make sure the converter resizes the ico to all size formats.
Regarding size - that is part of the original question. What exactly is the format that OD is looking for?
Regarding resizes - what is meant by "to all size formats?" I believe this goes along with what I asked above?
I think the best thing to do is to use those icon design software which usually automatically create compatible icon sizes. Stardock's IconDeveloper is one of them. https://www.stardock.com/products/icondeveloper/
