eh?!?!

I'm trying to explain something... but I am not sure how...

Kind of like the really over weight person ordering a couple Big Mac's, large fries and a diet coke.The diet coke justifing that they are trying to watch their weight.

Ah, the old "I got an A in mathematics this year!", "The teacher gave me a D in mathematics this year."

That's what I love about the social "sciences". They always have to do a long winded lecture/study about something that everybody already knows. Oh, and it needs a big misleading name.

Yes I did, but I also studied hard science (BS Biology minor in chemistry, working toward MS Immunology) so I think I know the difference.

This thing of being overweight - women, and men, from their 30's onwards almost can't avoid it - I call it "the way of all flesh" - it happened to my granddad, my dad, and now at 36 it's happening to me.

I tend not to think that success is what it's showing, what it's showing is that our bodies get old and degenerate - some show it faster than others, but we all, almost without exception end up with our bodily figure becoming "distorted" over time.

We have the media to thank for the flak women get for being overweight, end of story. Just browse past any magazine rack in your local corner store and you'll see what I mean - and I DON'T mean the porn, but rather the "women's" mags, etc.

Double Standards are common in any given culture and society.

Firstly yes behaivoral sciences tend to say what allot of people already know, but it bases it on scientific tested fact rather than the word on the street. Also in addition to studing the issues and culture differences, thoughts, attitudes and the like, having a written way of addressing the problems that face us as human beings can help.

If you're trying to comunicate with someone and find yourself in a mix-up, understanding how to resolve it or address it can avoid many problems and come up with solutions.



I mainly brought this one up because of another thread about images in the screenshot library. There were many perceptions about it and once those perceptions were made, ideas were formed as to why it is and what it does; ergo Attribution Theory.

We all do it, but understanding it will allow us to better handle situations, stop ourselves from continueing making Attribution Errors (another term to remember) and focus on a possible solution to an issue that is less judgmental.
