why doesnt manager know i have a subscription?

i have a subscription but software doesnt see it and i can't enter key

bottom line is that i can not manage the sofware from stardock that i have.

I was about to suggest you just log out of ODM & log back in, but when I just now launched ODM on my rig, it found an update, downloaded it and promptly disappeared.  It seems to have uninstalled itself as the StartMenu link no longer works and I can't find ODM anywhere.

Which leads me to my next suggestion, that you manage your apps through the MyAccount page of the Stardock Store.  It's just as easy and can't uninstall itself (I'm guessing).

I would suggest what Daiwa said, log out and log back in.

that worked, thanks!  not sure why it doesn't do a new login either every once in a while or when system is rebooted - app is pretty useless when it's wrong...

What you described is kind of strange. I'm not entirely sure why that happened Daiwa. It updated the app, and then the app itself was gone? Did you reboot after updating? If so, was it still gone?

Thanks for your reply.  Launched ODM on another of my rigs just now and it self-updated without going poof here, no reboot required.  Learned that ODM is not a 'program' in the Program Files sense - it is tucked away in the User profile, which makes a certain sense but was certainly not expected so I hadn't looked for it there on the other rig.

I'm not currently near the rig where ODM self-destructed on self-updating so I'll have to get back to you when I can take a peek at the User profile there.

Suppose it could be random file corruption.  I've had that occur from time to time - just a few weeks ago WBConfig somehow got corrupted such that clicking on the Apply button launched the MyAccount page of store.stardock.com.  Had to completely uninstall and reinstall WB to fix it.

All the files in the Users/.../ObjectDesktop folder are the same on the two rigs with the exception of ObjectDesktopManager.exe - it's missing on the rig where it self-destructed, present on the rig where it did not.

Can't say what happened as there was no crash popup, error message or other sign of trouble.  ODM just disappeared while updating or immediately after.  Wish I had more.  If there is a log file somewhere which might have some information let me know & I can send it to you.

I also have a problem, that object desktop manager does not know that I have subscription. I can directly download all parts of the object desktop bundle, but the manager does not manage to find them out...

There should be some part in the program, where you could give your subscription code, so that it would know what it is doing.

hannibal - Try logging out of ODM then logging back in - that seems to solve the problem for most people.
