Object Desktop and Win 7 SP1/Win8.1 -> Win10 Transition

I did a few searches and came up empty other than talks about the preview. With several OD apps (Start8/10, SkinStudio8, WindowsBlinds7/8) have OS-specific versions, what's the proper way to transition a machine on Win7 SP1/Win8.1 to Win10 with the in-place upgrade? Are there issues with version-specific hooks that require uninstalling OD apps and then re-installing after the upgrade? Are the apps designed to just go inert if the OS version changes underneath them and then you can uninstall/reinstall the right version after the OS upgrade? How did it work with the previews (or did they not offer an in-place upgrade).

Once Windows 10 is actually released I'd expect indication will be in place to manage the appropriate updates for Stardock's Apps... but Win 10 is stillseveral weeks away from release/final version...

I find myself in the same position as the OP so I think these are good questions to be asking.  I hope when someone has a chance to look at them they can provide some needed direction.  I had thoughts that with the Stardock programs I am using to would just set them to default before doing the upgrade.  Doesn't seem that an uninstall and reinstall of Object Desktop and the other programs would be necessary.  Once the upgrade was done I was going to download the Windows 10 specific programs from Stardock that are available.

Nice to get these questions answered now and not wait until we are getting ready to do the upgrade.

So Jafo are you suggesting that we should wait to do the upgrade until Stardock has a chance to check things out and provide updates to it's programs as required?  I'm not attempting to put you on the spot just looking for quidance.

True. However, the preview has been around for a while AND there are some Win10 specific SD apps showing up so I would hope they'd considered the transition before GA AND could provide some guidance for folks making their reservation and waiting for it to drop.

I don't plan to migrate to Win10 any time soon, but if I did, I'd uninstall all OD apps completely and reboot before starting the upgrade process, then install Win10-compatible OD apps after the upgrade is complete.  That may or may not be strictly 'necessary' but cleanest way is always the cleanest way & less likely to run into any hitches.

I have the Windows 10 Technical Preview 10130 running on my laptop and most of the Object Desktop programs work just fine on it. Also Object Dock works. However when I installed the Tech Preview over Windows 8 I had to reinstall all of the programs. The new OS uninstalled them. Also for anyone interested Windows Gadgets work as well.
