Making MS remove their version of the Java VM is a good thing. Microsoft took Java and bastardized it to suit their needs, which appears to have been illeagal. SO, Sun took them to court and won. Now MS has to allow users, (us) to be able to use either version of the VM on our machine. It allows OEMs to include either version.
All this further breaks down MS's attempts to monopolize our desktops.
I don't want to get off on a rant here, I am certainly not MS bashing, (I can, but I won't), but MS needs to allow their OSes to be more open. The upper management there doesn't seem to be willing or wanting to do so, so the courts have had to step in and make sure it is done.
Personally, I have used both and I can't tell the difference really. But just having the choice is what I value most of all. In other words, I'll eat a bowl of sh!t, just so long as I have a choice. Isn't that what democracy is all about?
