Hi,
is it possible to save docks in some way?
Or is it lost when I have to reinstall windows?
Which OS are you running. I run Win 7 64 bit. If you're running Win 7 go to C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/Stardock/Objectdock/Backgrounds. Save this folder to either a USB drive (flash drive) or to an external drive if you have one. Rename it first so as not to confuse it with the background folder that's already in there. Then put it back in the Objectdock folder after you do the re-install. Delete the one that's in there and rename the one you saved to backgrounds. All your docks will be in the one you saved.
The easiest way to get to your settings files is through the configuration window:
And make sure any pngs you use for your docks are in the same place when you reinstall or they will show up as "?"

That's great! Thanks for the good explanations
Well....that was fun....rebooted after some MS updates and lost my docks....all I had was the default taskbar ones.
Fortunately my weekly disk image via Acronis came to the rescue....once I'd located where the settings were kept...
Is it just me, or are Windows Updates interfering with more and more these days?
Could be just you....or maybe you're just slated for special treatment....
Nah....I think they're out to get us all.....one way or another....
"the other" being Windows 8.
For restore, I have to copy the backuped folders to the right places, right?
Or is there a restore-option in OD?
