Fix your software!

Stardock! How about some attention to your software issues...

Greetings,

For the past several months, and like so many of you, I have been waiting to see if Stardock will address the bugs in Objectdock 2. My patience with this company is coming to an end. They need to start fixing the various bugs in this application which I have used for years. I have sent them several e-mails now regarding several bugs, including the issue with the separators drawing on the wrong display in a multi-monitor setup, with docks positioned vertically on the second display. Their last update to this application was in 10/2010 I believe. This is far too long to go between bug fixes. Your company should be more diligent on correcting these issues (many others on this forum) considering that the user base pays hard earned cash for your products. I have actually started to look elsewhere for a better dock  application and have found that many freeware dock apps receive far more attention than you give your own products.

Bottom line, we pay you money to produce quality products. You need to get off your butts and start giving these applications of yours some love, or we will look elsewhere for a company or individual who actually seems to care about producing quality software. Fix these issues and start producing updates at regular intervals.

Hi. I don't work for Stardock, nor do I represent it. So, please take what I say as those of any other Community member.

Nothing is wrong in what you've posted, nor have you asked for anything unreasonable.

Brad Wardell (frogboy) who is the owner and CEO of Stardock just wrote a very welcome article about Object Desktop 2012, Here's the link to it:

Object Dock 2, not being a part of ODNT wasn't covered specifically but in general, since selling Impulse, a good deal of intensive and manpower draining work has been eliminated.

It wouldn't surprise me if OD2 got some love as well, although I do have to say I've been looking for a solution to a few of the same problems that you noted in your OP. I also know you're looking for a more authoritative response than this one.

On Tuesday, when folks filter back into the slave quarters office, I can try to ask about OD2. I know that isn't going to satisfy you fully, but it's really as much as I can commit to doing.

@Juniorcrooks - If you want to stick your head in the sand and pretend things are hunky dory, feel free to do so. I was speaking broadly because there are many people who are having many issues with this one little application.

I come from a PC/X-Box games and software development company with over 12 years in the field. We used to develop software aimed at the very limits of what most systems could handle. We always developed quality but we had a knack of forcing bugs to the surface on many systems, and many would be surprised at how much mayhem one flaky driver would cause. I currently am a Systems Administrator and understand fully how different many different kinds of PC hardware can behave with the billions of applications available. However I do think they can do better and I would absolutely love them to do so. Coming from my background, I also understand that certain companies can become complacent and look forward to the next version instead of fixing the issues with the current release. I certainly hope this is not the case. DrJBHP, thank you for the info in your post, and a sincere thanks from me on bringing up these issues on our behalf. I am also a VAR with a major cable broadband provider, and also do the same on behalf of my  own client. I think sometimes these respective companies need a poke from people such as us every once in a while because you never know where or if their customer service will deliver these problems up the ladder for the software devs to realize there are some doozy bugs that should be addressed.

Again, thanks for looking into this... I will go read the thread from your post now.

Well sorry for your sense of frustration josephbp.  I would think more frequent maintenance updates with some bug fixes would be part of the program. 

I have Object Dock 2 plus and haven't experienced any significant problems with it.  I have Windows 7 Home 64bit and a single monitor.  I have had to restart OD 2 once or twice but thats all.

Yet, I do also know that other programse I have receive more frequent updates to them than does OD 2.  My graphics software paint.net, AMD/ATI Catalyst software,  Malwarebyte's anti-malware, and TuneUp untilities programs all have had bug fix updates more frequently than OD 2.

WindowBlinds on the other hand gets regular updates and rapid bug fixes.

Perhaps Stardock will figure out a business plan for addressing more frequent bug fix releases of more their products as part of the product lifecycle.

Those are just the toes showing Zubaz.  The county assesor tries taxing my shoes as a real estate improvemnt every year!  I told him I'd consider it if I ever go condo with them.

Ah, Carguy, let me tell you something.  Sometimes scary is hot.  You can get more chicks with "scary" than you can get with "nice."  (you know...because chicks are crazy).  Anyway, I personally think Smedley is pretty damn hot.
