For a while now I've been something of a malcontent when it comes to my OS. I complained that the Windows interface was boring, the Luna interface takes up too much space, the OSX interface, though I quite like it now, I originally described as a "candy nightmare". Now that I have ObjectDesktop, I am empowered to right all the wrongs of OS visual design. So I got to thinking, though I'm pretty much restricted in the nature of the controls, what would I have done differently in designing any of these interfaces? Search my mind as I might, the only things I can come up with are that it must give me maximum workspace (you can never have enough workspace), and of course it must be pretty like a pony. For several weeks I've been twiddling my thumbs over this little dilemma, basically pondering what I may have done differently, and I must confess, I'm completely stumped. It's not that I don't have the skills as an artist to make an attractive interface, but I just can't come up with anything that satisfies me, I simply can't visualize it. My current OSX theme is going to wear thin for me in a couple of weeks, and I feel that I should try to put something together before this happens, but my mind is blank. The only skins I've really taken a liking to have been OS ports (QNX, OSX), but I can't help the feeling that it could be better. Just wanted to vent my frustrations, thanks for reading.
