ObjectDock 2 Beta: How do you create and use an icon image library that resides somewhere else?

Hi,

I don't like my custom icons residing in the application install directory. How do you make ObjectDock 2.0 use a custom directory residing somewhere else for icon images?

I am using the Version 2 beta of ObjectDock Plus on a quad-core notebook running Windows 7 Professional 64bit with 8GB RAM.

This was one if my main requests from about 2-3 years ago. Basically, I don't think you can unless they rework it (or please just use the standard browse dialog).

You can save your icons wherever you want, you'll just have to use the Browse button to navigate to them from that dialog.

There IS a "browse for image" button on the bottom, after you select Edit Icon - Change Image. It's below the folders on the left hand side.

I wish you could save different folder locations. I also wish it remembered where you went the last time and had it come up as the default

Oh yeah, me too.....really hope this gets fixed in the next 2.0 update.

I may be missing something here and if so sorry. What I do is make folders and copy them into misc icons. Than when I click on Edit Icon it opens the folders below by default as long as the icon you are using is in there. Than you don't have to go through all the clicks to get where you want. See screen shot

I too may be missing something in the questtion, but I use the 'Browse For An Image' selection under the 'Change Image' menu and pick up icons from where ever they are. If the icon I want isn't in the standard location, I do have to browse for it, but basically I can get icons from anywhere they are on my computer or network drives.

The point here is that 1) I don't want have to browse every time and 2) I want to have quick access to a folder of icons that resides in my own personal location, not anywhere under the directory where ObjectDock is installed. This is really a trivial thing to change.

OK - one more suggestion, if I may. Open the icon folder from your own personal location. Open the OD 'Edit Icon' menu for the item you want to change. Drag the icon you want from your folder into the icon box on the 'Edit Icon' menu. Click OK. You may find that to be a satisfactory solution while waiting for OD to incorporate the change.

Well, yes I'm essentially doing that now. I copy my custom icons into the ObjectDock Data folder. So this issue is not a showstopper, just a nuisance.
