Winders XP RC-1 made available

Just downloaded the latest release of Winders XP which was moved to Release Candidate 1 today. The install was simple and fast and the OS is running smoothly so far. Looks like MS is sure making some great progress with this OS.

In the series of releases Microsoft does in testing the software, they go from Beta 1 to Beta 2. When they have somewhat of a stable platform that is nearing readiness, they label it Release candidate where place the code in feature lock. From that point, it will go from Release Candidate 1 to Release candidate 2 and possibly 3 before it goes into production for retail. This is a general description of the process.

I have been fortunate to just get hold of 2495 it's really weird, as in the set files on the CD they refer to RC1 and not B2 ? But as far as I know the first RC1 is 2505 ?? anyway the version i have recieved is cool and Rocks. ) Plus it has been completely STABLE

But where to download te preview program of Windows XP. Can you give me a link please?

Regional MS websites also have Previw programs.

I'm also running RC1 (2505), and have so far not had any major trouble with it, right down to my TV out still working. Looks to be reasonably nice, but I think 2000 will be my main OS for a while yet.

My complaint is that my Logitech Cordless trackball driver doesn't work still..... arghhhh,...... I know it's a third party vendor issue, but ya'd figure that someone like Logitech would be in tune already eh??

Logitech, get with the damn program will ya......

A full day at work using build 2505 and everything is running great. It's looking like Win XP is shaping up into one hell of an OS.

Yep, I think it's an awesome OS. I was a big W2K fan, but have already discarded it in favor of WXP RC1.

Mouseware 9.27, which came with my Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse, installed and works just fine here.

You can download XP RC1. It's actually cheaper that way.

Maybe it's what's in the water over here but RC1 seems easier on my resources than 2k Pro. Been using 5% where 2k would say 12%. Could be the Home Edition though. Same programs loaded and all... just been watching it. < Some life

Course Pro is easier to "get" but I don't need any of those added features.

I am stuck. I am not sure wether to buy the Pro version or the Home Edition. As I am a 'power User' I thought the Pro version should be the one to get ? I can imagine the login system on the home Version to be as buggy as it always was in 9x versions ?

I think I'm going to have to wait for the retail release of XP. About a week ago I ordered the download version online, paid by credit card, and have been waiting for some info on how to download the software. Nothing has come yet, and there doesn't seem to be any way to find out the progress of the order.

By the sound of it though, this OS will be a pleasure to run...when I finally get it!
