New Bamboo Touch Tablets from Wacom

These are really cool.  I was able to demo one at Staples, and I could certainly replace my mouse with this.

first off tablets are horrible Replacements for mice, if your playing games. But for general use And/Or special use (eg photoshop) then you want ones that are screens aswell, although they are £500 +

You can get used to a non-screen one, and they are pretty good. Its just they are missing something.

A decent wireless mouse will usually run about $40 or so, so with this being $69 it's not bad actually.

A regular tablet, yes, but this is like navigating with a touch-screen of sorts.  It really is cool.

I cant replace the mouse but My Wacom 6x8 is my left hand!

^ Not to mention a gaming mouse is easily over that price.

I saw a review on youtube of the Bamboo Touch. It seems like a really cool device. The only problem I have is that it might be a bit small and yes, it most certainly would be awkward for gaming.

For the base model. I checked out their website they range from $69 up to $199, though I personally don't see a whole lot of difference between the the various models. Both do come with Adobe Elements. Not knocking it, some of the possibilities look pretty cool, but I've seen a lot of pointing devices come and go. Will this be one of those?

Ever since Wacom changed their logo I have boycotted them.  It's so stupid.  (As an aside . . I have not had teh budgetary resources to buy *ANY* tablet . . .

just sayin'  )

I own the small(est) model Bamboo_Fun #CTE-450K and it's a blast when it comes to intuitive drawing tasks & skills. Highly recommended device for anyone serious about creativity tools. Reasonably priced last spring (About 125CDN$/including Taxes!) and it was boxed with some pretty nifty softwares such as Elements-6 and a stripped down version of Corel Painter-4.

Besides, slick pencil is a much more natural thing to hold instead of a PC mouse.

I own a Bamboo Wacom one, greatest $100 I have ever spent. someitmes I use it like a mouse, but for some mmo, and basic pointing and clicking, and since I have CS4, I have been using a lot of it in PSD.

Though I don't get it why use a pricy one when the cheapest will do.

If you did any work that really demanded a Wacom, you would know.  I own several Intuous tablets, used in 2D/3D digital art and design, and a Bamboo is comparably very limited it its performance. It is suitable for alternate PC navigation, and maybe some light photo editing, but that is about it. It is good for casual play, but if you really want to *work* with a tablet, you'll be getting something much more expensive.

 

I'm saving for a Cintiq right now.
