WinCustomize Poll: Do You Use a Netbook PC?

The newest poll on WinCustomize is a pretty simple one.  With the explosion of Netbooks and their rising popularity, I see more and more people posting screenshots using Netbooks, so we were curious about how many of our members are using one.

I use an Acer Aspire One, and it’s really a fantastic little machine.  Vote in the poll, then tell us what Netbook you are using.  Even feel free to post a picture!

I have what could be called a netbook (from back in the day). 

 

 

Viewsonic PC V1250.

  • Intel Pentium 1 GHz
  • 256 MB RAM
  • 12" screen; 1024 x 768 / 24-bit
  • 30 GB HD
  • Awesome handwriting recognition.
  • 3.9 pounds

Cost 2000$US back in 2004.  !!!

I use an Acer Aspire One also when traveling. It is very lightweight and easy to take any where you go. Works great and gets the job done!

I had no idea they're so popular.

I saw a post asking for DX themes tailored for netbooks and wondered...what the heck is a netbook? Googled it and I have to agree, it seems like DX could mimic other OSes and maximize functionality of the limited desktop real estate. 'Course, you'd have to own one, or know someone who does own one, to test out the themes and get feedback on what should go where or what should be included.

Ah, well.  On-topic: I don't use one.

Course, you'd have to own one, or know someone who does own one, to test out the themes and get feedback on what should go where or what should be included.
Or, create a DX object that had the most common dimensions of the netbooks.    Just sayin'

The main problem with them is the small screen and smaller vertical (600 pixel vs 768) for typical screen resolution. For someone with little need for a full fledged notebook and no care for the a tiny iphone screen, these are filling a big niche.

I have a dell mini netbook  I use at work and at home. It works great - linux and no customizations what so ever due to the stuff I use it for at work. It also works very well with my PDA and cell-phones. I usually sync it and all my other here to my Vista Ultimate home system and back to my home server. Thus it and everything I need is either linked via web or direct link thru my home server at home and on the web. Really keeps things where I can find it.

The  netbook makes things better so when I go to meetings I can keep notes and retrieve my records at a click of a switch or mouse. Sync really does the trick here with things when I need it and then can delete it or move it to another device for record keeping. But usually gets sync to home server and I always have it any where at any place there is. Also use wireless internet via verizon and never have a problem getting beyond a domain clutter or security class. Thus I stay in direct link with all my stuff and have never had a problem yet.

Love it - makes my life much easier...

Laptops just take up space and are great for kids and/or doing more where others need to see what I may be doing. But also as with a laptop I can do video presentations via my netbook and it is as easy as with a larger laptop. Actually it is much easier... I like it better than a laptop. It is not slow either with what I do and such. Good sound and good video for the projector to work with on the big screen in the conference room we use and is great for other events in different areas as well.

Oh and it was well priced- the main reason for buying it and I like having a smaller pc to use at work as for carrying it around from place to place. Which I do a lot of that from one station to another with user support for the system. It makes things much better than dragging a larger laptop or having to use the station itself and sign in - thus I'm signed in wireless and can do things three times as fast and not carry around a large pc. Oh and the battery is great - usually last thru the day with no problems. Only time I plug in to power is in a presentation with video and audio. That or at home to recharge for the next day.

Well i've been Using a Sony VAIO AR520E for about 2 years now and i love it...... But i use it more like a desktop... see pic..

 

 

I'm going to update the ram and hdd next week when thay get here from the U.S. 4Gig OCZ Ram and a 320 Gig 7200rpm HDD.

I've been using my Dell Mini 9 since October. I mainly use it for work and personal travel. It's small and light weight, and Vista runs nice and smooth on it.

Long ago I'm working only on the IBM laptops (just because I have an allergy to the large computers...)

My current PC is:

IBM T-61 15,4'' widescreen (1680x1050), Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz, 4GB RAM, two HDD: 250 GB and 1 TB, Windows Vista Ultimate SP2.

Now I'll be waiting for Windows 7 release. Then I'll buy IBM ThinkPad W700 with integrated digitizer:

DISPLAY: 17" WUXGA 400NIT TFT

VIDEO: NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M 128-core CUDA parallel computing processor 1GB (dedicated)

HDD: 250 GB, 7200rpm

There is only one thing in my life that I'm always ready to buy without any doubts - NEW COMPUTERS...

Year i know.... I'm sad like that... my desk needs to be spotless

But if you see inside the draws they are a right mess.. 

 

I made this desk about 5 years ago and i've allways kept it this clean.... (I'm well sad)
