Hello all. Does anyone have any thougths on this one? I'm running Vista Ultimate (32bit) on a Dell XPS 420 (Nvidia GeForce 8800GTX if it matters) with sp1 installed. LogonStudio does exactly what it should in terms of swaping the logon screen, but I then get other problems, which seem to based on scrambled file access permissions. I lose access to various vista control panels, most notably the Personalization pane but more problematically, windows update. All I get is a blank window with the message "The page failed to load."
Just sitting loaded onto the drive, logon studio was fine, it wasn't until I switched the screen that problems began. (I had been blaming other programs for this, but I hadn't touched any tweaks except LogonStudio this last time, and the problems began immediately after I switched logon screens).
I also start losing icons from my desktop, they aren't actually "missing" but the no longer show the proper picture, just a basic place holder icon. It isn't consistent which icons disapper but it seems to be things like "My Documents" "My Music" my user account desktop file etc. which are the most likely to vanish. Once they are gone, they don't come back without a reinstall. The icons for my DVD drives seem to be the first to go, other drives are still recognized though.
Any suggestions? System restore doesn't seem to help much getting these items back, but after I performed an in place installation to reset Windows (had to delete Sp1) I made an image of the disk in a pristine state to spare me the hastle of another reinstall. Thanks! Matt
