"error: Could not access network location\Themes" while installing

Hay everyone I downloaded the free version of CursorFX from download.com and right from here and both can't install. I get the error message (in topic title) while trying to install it. I dont know whats wrong. Any help?

sounds like its trying to install over a network...  are you on a home network?

Try this and lets see whats what?

right click the desktop and choose properties - then from the tab for desktop choose the customize desktop button - then the web tab - uncheck anything that is checked there in the web pages box. Say ok and then apply and ok again.

Hopefully it is you are running a web desktop and just need to turn it off maybe?

lol no i'm not installing over a network nor running a web desktop. i have no idea whats wrong

oh and i'm running Vista Home Premium 32-bit version, if that helps.

In the network sharing center do you have file sharing and public folder sharing turned on?

Try turning UAC off if it is on. If not that grab a fresh install and do a quick uninstall/reinstall.

If it is still an issue and you have security software running try disabling it just for the period of installing the free version (no spy or ad ware I promise) and see if it wasn't guarding or monitoring some portion of the install files.

i have UAC on but im not turning it off, even just for the intall because that will mess up any virtualization settings (any programs installed before while UAC is enabled will return back to their defaults when UAC is turned off and then back on, its just not worth it).

anyway i already tried disabling my security software which did nothing. Also seabass i can't install it so i can't uninstall and reinstall it. thats the problem it doens't install in the first place.

any more ideas, because i'm just about to give up on this.

Can you download it?  You say you downloaded it from Cnet.  Did you try right clicking on the dl file and selecting run as administrator?

I also would suggest you send an email to support@stardock.com asking for assistance with installing the free version of CursorFX.  It's a great program and worth some effort.  I'm thinking for most Vista users (I have XP and it works perfectly) it installs without a hitch.  Give support a chance to help by sending the email!

ok i'll shoot support an email, but running as administrator wouldn't help as its automatically runs as administrator to install it(i tried just for the hell of it and nope nothing new).

also i downloaded it from Cnet and from here, both give me the same result, though not like thats surprising as they are identical.

Ya I'd say something that is running on your Vista pc is blocking the install.  Include information for support such as OS version and SP level, error logs and any AV software you're using.  It will be easier for them to try and see what the problem is.

Wow that was quick. I emailed them about the problem and responded within less than an hour. This is what they responded with:

Hello,

The location in question is found here:

Vista: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX\Themes
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Stardock\CursorFX\Themes

Please make sure that this folder exists and you have the correct permissions to modify it.

All i needed to do is create the folders. I believe i deleted them a while ago.
