Tabbed dock is not activated with mouse if another window is on top

I have a tabbed dock on the top of my screen. When I'm in the desktop, even though the tabs aren't showing, the drawer is pulled down when I move place the pointer on the upper edge of the screen. But if a window is maximized or placed (minimized) on the upper edge, nothing happens. I restarted OD and my computer but I can't fix it.

These are my settings:

I want the dock to be activated as soon as I hover the mouse on the upper edge. Can somebody please tell me what should I do?

I have Vista SP1 and OD Plus. Thanks.

You have a tabbed dock, with the tabs under a window, and you want to activate the tabs when you bump the top of the screen?

I don't think you can do that with a tabbed dock, only a normal one.

missoctavia, I use five seperate single tabs with both XP and Vista and they allow mouseover activation on top of open windows as illustrated below.

I don't know if you're using single or multiple tabs, or even if this makes a difference to your particular configuration, but single tabs does work and act this way for me.

No different or particular settings, I've always found this to be a bit annoying every time I touch a corner, especially the upper right where your close windows button is located, but it's a nice feature to have when you need it.

Curtis . .are your tabbed docks set to always on top? If so what you have will work. But if not . . they won't.

No they're not Zu, all of my settings are basic defaults. My singles are "Attached" and "Always on top" is checked off.

I have the same settings as the OP with the exception of it being a bottom dock not top and being on Xp but it works fine for me on mouseover.

I set to these on XP to test, you must hit screen edge where dock is, or set a hotspot for that screen edge so whole edge activates dock.

I never use them but I just created a default multiple tab and it works the same way as the single on mouse over on open windows.

I didn't change any of the settings nor did I have to create a virtual hotspot. I simply dragged it to the right side, it attached and slid closed. The only thing I do change is "Always On Top", I don't want my tabs on top all the time.

I do hope some of this is helping missoctavia.

I have 5 docks: 3 always on top as the windows taskbar, then another right above it, which always pop-ups with the mouse hovering on top, and the last is the tabbed dock on top of the screen. The last one doesn't always work as it should. When a windows is max'd, nothing happens but if I'm in the desktop, the mouse can "open" the drawer. Sometimes, re-checking the settings above (meaning they're not modified) works but only until it stops working again.

All my tabs are set to NOT be always on top, but when I move my mouse in the general area of the tab, it activates and comes in over a maximized window. Like cavan said, you have to be near the actual tab, or set up a hotspot.

It looks like what you want is a hotspot. Open the OD Config screen for the tabbed dock, select Hotspots, click on the arrow that pertains to the spot you want and then set the attribute in the dropdown box.

Thanks to everyone but actually I just realized it's only with Firefox that the tab is not activated. I also move the mouse to the area of the tab, where it should be, and even higher to the edge, which usually activates it, except when Firefox is maximized. I also tried setting a hotspot but again, it doesn't work when Firefox is maximized. I wonder if there's something in Firefox that's doing this because this issue is recent and I have the tabbed dock for several months.

Works fine with IE7!

Maybe it's time to migrate.

As a firm user and believer in IE with Stardock products, I can honestly say I've never had a problem of this nature.

Thanks to everyone but actually I just realized it's only with Firefox that the tab is not activated.

It may be a FF/Vista thing, no problems with FF on XP.

FF 3.0.1 on XP Home SP3.
