Another Really Cool Picture

I did this once before and it got a decent response. I was checking out some of my favorite 'daily' links today and I came across this picture at the Astronomy Picture of the Day. There's a link in my sidebar. This is actually yesterday's picture (I was a bit busy at work, so didn't check it out then). Check it out and check the archives, too. There are some truly beautiful pictures there. You can see the Earth Lights at Night picture in the archives. There's all kinds of really cool pics there. But I saw this one and figured I'd share it here. Hopefully this will get you interested enough in visiting this site regularly!

That really is a breathtaking picture. I saved the large image, going to play around and use it on my desktop.

By the way, here is the guy's site. There are a couple other really nice pictures on that site.

Lightning pictures are cool for long exposure.  Just like the strobe on your camera, they will stop action so that you have real defined areas a long with the movement.  Without the strobe (in that case, lightning) a long exposure of clouds will result in a lot of blur from movement.
