How do I undo an upload, one I did not have permission for?

Because now I cannot upload anything until I get permission...which I can't get a hold of the person...

So, I tried to upload a longonstudio vista file which had a link at the bottom. On my own computer was all I was planning on using it on, but I accidentally clicked it to upload when I meant another. Now the site will not accept anything I upload until I get permission, but I would rather just not try to upload that logon, and only upload the ones I have made or have permission for. Can I delete the attempt or how do I get myself out of this situation. As a side note, I dont really know how to upload with permissions, so I have tried to avoid anything I havent made...but I would like to know, so that I can have the link to my own website on the image and give permission without it getting rejected for having a link on it...if possible...i hope that made sense.... and thanks for a speedy reply...I hope... -Zea (deganu)

I believe you can delete the skin you want to get rid of.

As far as uploading with permission, all you have to do is include the permission with the skin in a zip file.

You don't get rejected for putting a link in the notes area of a skin.

the skin I accidentally uploaded isnt in my skins area, they never put it up, but I am still not allowed to upload anything until I fix it....

Having one skin in moderation will not stop you from uploading another. You could PM a moderator about the skin in question, or maybe one will stop by this thread.

I was having uploading troubles earlier today, maybe you are having the same problem? What happens when you try to upload something?

It says upload failed recently, and before that they would spend a few minutes in moderation, then be rejected, and trust me, its not for lack of awesomeness. Then I get an email saying I need permissions for this one that I tried to upload previously, which is no longer in moderation and that until I do all attempted uploads will be rejected, even if they are mine...

You must provide proof on your FUTURE submissions.  Because you previously uploaded questionable work, we require that you provide some sort of proof or assertion that your future uploads are in fact your own.

Deganu, the easiest way is to email or pm the artist asking for permission. If they send permission, copy it and upload it with the work you are submitting. Just include it in the ZIP file.....

The text of the permission email with headers so mods can check with the artist if needed

is there an example somewhere I can look at, because I dont think I am getting it. Do you mean a header with their name, and email?

You email asking for permission . .then reply back "OK.  Copy and  paste either an image of that exchange into a text file or a jpg.  Put it in the zip of your submission.

If someone made it, then you have to get permission. The original author still retains the copyrights and distribution rights. However, there are stock image sites that don't require permission per-say, but still have usage rules.

Upload it.
But . . .
  1. make sure it's formatted for it's proper use.  (Don't upload photo dimensions as wallpaper)
  2. only upload it if you really and truly think it makes a good wall/logon/etc.  No one wants to use a picture of Aunt Sally on vacation
  3. make sure it really is your work.  Once you upload someone else's as your own you can expect a bit more scrutiny

In that circumstance you are required to read the site's conditions of use.  The images may be free to DOWNLOAD for your PERSONAL use....but they may still prohibit you from redistribution...and using them in a Logon and uploading them here classifies as 'redistribution'.

An example... Digital Blasphemy's works are all specifically restricted to 'personal use', so nothing publicly downloaded from there can be used/reused in public....

Okay...so I just uploaded a zip file with my logonstudio file. Included in it is a permission snapshot of an email...is that all i need?

Yep, that will suffice.

If there's more than one wall used from the same source the consent must be either a general one for all...or specific ones for each.  People cannot assume that if they have consent for one they automatically have it for others....

The reason the permission needs to be within the file/zip/skin theme is so it goes where the skin goes....that is the downloader also has that permission.txt file/info and is aware that there was/is no issue with the uploader's use of it....

Deganu....this is real simple.

1) Email the author who's work you wish to use. Wait for reply.
2) When a reply arrives...click on it and then click reply....(don't reply).
3) Highlight the email after you've hit reply since it will show your original request and the response and copy this into your temporary memory.
4) Open Notepad and paste it in there and save that text file (name it "Permission") to the folder where your work is stored and then add it to the zip file you intend to upload.

Its better using a text file rather than a snapshot since a text file is much smaller in size.
