Can DesktopX be used for a Media Center?

evaluating if it can be done

Hi from a (maybe) new user.

I'm a programmer hired to develop some apps for a PC that need to be put in a showroom.

That PC is basically a Media Center: i need to build a sort of "desktop tree":

Main Page with 4 buttons (Movies, Songs, Photos, Games)
4 pages (related to the previous 4 buttons) that basically do all the same thing:
browse a specified folder, showing a button for each image found in that folder (in a scrollable "list"), and launch the related app when pressed.
This all must be used only by keyboards, and needs to lock all the way that allow the users to "enter" in the PC.

So my question is:
is DestopX able to do that?
is hard? there's some sample or already done "themes" that act similar?

I think Dx can do this. It is not hard but its not easy as well.
For buttons and their functionality, the best exaples are strafeDX, systemX1 and aero. I think all these are by gef but they dont use keyboard. So for keyboard you have to read a tutorial for hotkeys or have to see the scripts in volume control widget by Julien.
For locking the computer you can hide the taskbar and icons easily. There is a similar theme "NoAccess" for this.
Do you want to disable the windows key? I think disabling win key will get a bit tough.

Lcars DX theme incorporates full page layer style interfaces each with configurable buttons. Some buttons launch programs or file, folder short cuts, other buttons switch the user to another page/interface of buttons etc. Loading at boot essentially it offers no ability to navigate any where except where the interfaces/pages allow. Basically achieving a Lockout/ designer preset access.

From boot to shutdown the users can only access what it set up by the designer.

But it is run by mouse only (no keyboard is required). I have not delved in to trying to build a Key stroke only theme and are not sure if it is possible.

Oh, how i forgot Lcars.

It does this all except keystrokes, which I think can be achieved by the use of hotkeys.
