You know, I remember a time when I could revel in being a dirty old man (though I'm not that old) who had thoughts about Britney Spears and her bubble-gum cuteness that later morphed into the Oooops, I did it Again rebellion and ooozing sexiness that was used to sell a few records as she shed away that bubble-gum image.
And then, well, yeah, there was also Lindsay Lohan who looked cute and perky, and fairly happy while still being expected to be a good girl.
I could go on about a host of 'others' (Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and more) that used to actually be somewhat respectable, but who have lost every ounce of dignity and respect along the way.
Britney Spear's appearance at the MTV awards, at least from the still photos that have been making the rounds on the various news services (see for example: Brietbart.com) was just so unflattering and disgusting that I expect that anyone that saw it may never buy another Britney item ever again.
I hate to think about holding up Madonna as a role model, but I can talk a little about her and get away with that whole 'at least she never....' when compared to the current generation of stars and wannabes.
I guess sooner or later the agents, publicists, managers or others involved in the lives of the current generation will step up and smack some sense into these people before they find their careers gone faster than the white powder, uh, yeah, from the donuts, that is rumored to disappear so quickly around some of these people.
