Right Click and Widgets

Hey guys,

Searched around on these forums but can't find a solution to this. I've recently upgraded from WindowBlinds to ObjectDesktop and installed most of the components. ObjectBar started behaving badly and I removed everything and installed only a few applications -- Keyboard Launcher, Right Click, Desktop Gadgets and Desktop X for now.

The problem I am having is inserting a Widget onto the right click menu, as shown in one of the screenshots on the StarDock site. I am trying to add the Silica Clock to the right click menu. Sometimes I get a small extra space in the menu where the clock should be, other times I get a large white space where the clock should be and still other times I get the large space, but the clock appears in one fixed place on the screen and cannot be moved. If I right click the large white space and select Properties, I get the widget properties. So, does anyone know what the problem is? It's driving me crazy!

I don't have the silica clock to try and see if thats giving a problem but...after you add any widget to a RC menu...position the widget where you want it on the menu after adding the element. Now, before even looking at it..." Unload" the RightClick program. Then reload the program...the widget should be right where you want it. There is also a slider when you add the widget " right - left - center " Make sure you start off by putting that on center. Thbis is Vista clock I just added while sitting here

If its all the widgets giving you a problem ...try clearing the widgets cache ..

but usually unloading the RightClick program after adding the widget 'before' right clicking anywhere - solves the problem...after reloading program...rightclick close to the top of your screen....then it should be ok after that..

Thanks for your reply but I'm still not having any luck! I followed your instructions but I cannot position the widget where I want it -- when I try to move it, the right-click menu moves instead! Ok..you can't move the widgets with your cursor at all. It doesnt work that way.
Try deleting the widget off the menu through the RightClick editor.
Then before adding widget..open desktopX > click on welcome screen>Load Widgets > Options > View widget cache > delete the widget or widgets from the cache that are giving you a problem ( this resets the widget back to its original state) close desktopX Reboot.
Open up the RightClick menu editor > Content tab > highlight the desktopX widget element > click on " Add" so the menu items properties box appears. Browse for your widget through the " change widget " tab. ( note the alignment tab below and put on center ) add widget you want then click ok at bottom of menu items property box.
Do not right click anywhere yet. Look in RC menu editor on active menu side > highlight the widget > using the move up/down arrows move the widgets up the menu till you have it where you want it ..middle or top is good. Close menu editor. Still do not rightclick anywhere. Unload the Rightclick program. Then reload program.

Wait until the program is fully loaded. If you have RC icon in systray, open tray then let it close..wait a few seconds.. Now...Rightclick on your desktop in upper portion of screen and see where the widget is. If its off the menu...do not try to move it with cursor. let menu close then rightclick on desktop again. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it positions correctly...unload menu again if you have to and or reboot.. I would try a different widget other than silica ones.
Are you using the newest version of RightClick ? And desktopx ?

Nope, no way this is working! Running the latest versions that StarDock Central has. Think I'll just give up and delete cos I've wasted enough time on this!

Once you add the widget to the menu it will always be where you added it. Not sure why your having this problem....

The only thing im wondering is if you are running windows Vista. DesktopX and RightClick do not play well with Vista yet but a new version of RightClick is in the works. Stay tuned. You dont need to delete the RC Program just because you can't add a widget - most do not use the widgets on the RC anyway...

I, too, was having this exact problem and could not resolve it.

Rolling back from the beta version fixed me right up.

Wow! I had the same problem here.I had given up trying to add DX widgets to right click,I rolled DX back to it's previous incarnation as you said SabreWolfy,and woot! I have my right click working ,widgets et al.

Well cut off me legs & call me shorty! How long has this been available ?!? It's awesome!

BTW, seems to work perfectly with the latest Beta of DX ( 3.49b[b].008 ).

Next question: When will it be incorporated into ObjectDock !?!!
