CALLING ALL Computer GEEKS!!!!

I need some help here

Ok this is what's up.

I use system suite 7 it has a firewall, and virus scanner and adware,spyware, grayware, blah blah blocker.

After I run the adware, blah blah, I usually find a tracking cookie or two, I delete them, then I run spybot search and destroy, I find other cookies, and adware there, I delete them and then Immunize.

Today after running both of them I went to Housecall, A trend PC-illin product, I ran the adware blah blah and picked up two more both system suite and spybot missed, Is there any such thing as a complete adware and all of its offspring blocker that takes care of all this crap that seems to wiggle its way into my computer?

I just did that to let you know I do read ALL your stuff, but do not have a comment on everything you write, but I never want you to thing I ignore you Joe, or would hurt your feelings in any way. hence the "I was here" comments

reboot your pc and run the spyware/malware scans in windows safe mode.
While you're at it, run a virus scan at the same time as well.

To enter windows safe mode, reboot your pc, during bootup and before the bootscreen comes up, hit the F8 function key on your keyboard several times until a windows startup options menu list appears. Select safe mode from the list and wait for windows to bootup.

As far as the software you're using, I've never heard of system suite 7 so I can't say it's good or not.

For free solutions go with ad aware v1.06 (I heard v1.07 is available, if so download & get it), also get spybot and try ms defender (beta 2 I think is the latest version). Grisoft also has a free trial of their anti-malware/anti-spyware product. Install all of these and run spyware scans while windows is operating in safe mode. You'll definitely catch more spyware that way rather than scanning in windows regular mode.

Do this a few times. Reboot windows into regular mode and determine if you notice a difference in your pc's performance.

In answer to the final question in your post : no. The threats constantly evolve and breed so the only solution is to keep fighting them nonstop. 100% security is only obtained when your computer ceases to exist as an object physically and philosophically.

best program in the world to get to utterly pulverize both adware and spyware and keep it permanently out of your system is a program called spyware doctor, i've used this program for years and it NEVER let me down they now have a anti-virus program as well you can check it out HERE also if you want a program that block all the arsehole company's that try and install spyware and/or adware from visiting sites get peer guardian 2 you can peer guardian 2 HERE after downloading and installing peer guardian do not run the program yet,go to start,run and type CMD when the command prompt opens up copy and paste this in the command prompted "bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS" with out the quotes then reboot your system after the reboot go ahead and start peer guardian 2 A.K.A PG2 there will be a dialog that pops up and says something bout a driver don't worry bout that just hit ok make sure that before the program finishes installing it will give you a list of choice of what to block..just choose them all and make sure you do not check mark the box "allow HTTP" that's how some sites like game copy world put adware and spyware on your system

I found this cool thing that doesnt let anything into your computer. It's called Brain. It seems to work great!

First off its virtually impossible to remove all cookies from your computer, even more so if you have an always on connection, all the software that automatically updates itself eg antivirus, windows will install cookies for its own intents and purposes so even if you do a full format then connect your computer to the net, something will download them most of them do nothing other than tell the site you have visited and will help in reloading the same pages again if you go back their, as long as you have a good firewall, antivirus windows defender your going to be adequately protected from all the major threats out their, the rest is just like dust, clean it up when you can be bothered ( hey i'm a born again bachelor what do you expect) all i have running on my computer is avg internet security nothing else and i am more than happy that my computers safe, though then again i am a computer engineer, so i know how to fix it when it goes wrong.

The correct answer is no.

There isn't any one app that will 100% catch everything every time. There is simply too much crap coming at your machine when it's connected and there is a constant supply of new crap all the time. That's why there are so many different products that appear to do the same thing.

First off it's never a good idea to put all your eggs in one basket when it comes to security regardless of any reviews that give them 5 stars or not, it's better to use a seperate maker for each type so as an example windows for a firewall,avg for antivirus,spyware terminator for realtime spyware scanner,which by the way i can't find a reputable review of the suite you have purchased which straight away sets the alarm bells ringing ,you did'nt purchase it because a popup said you were infected and you should by that product you'd be suprised how many people get sucked in by that one.Now down to so called spyware my only concern would be the degree of threat me personally i only use one scanner which is real time the other is a manual type,i've done what you have and use to have multiples of all sorts of scanners untill i got more experianced at what was a real threat and what was'nt, nowadays i'm comfortable in surfing with everything off except the firewall..lol.. it's only when doing any sort of serious downloading of freebie software or non affiliates of sites i normally visit that i take xtra precautions tho somewhat carefree in my attitude as all my saved passworrds and personal info is more than well encrypted

Check out Norton 360 It is an awesome program for findidg stuff like that and it is also affordable.I have been using it for about 4 months now and I haven't had one problem since then.It has about everything you would want hence the name 360

Get Microsoft Defender (in addition to the ones you have). Each one finds a lot, and stuff the others do not. But as Mason says, there is not one for all things.

The advantage of MD is that it does run in the background. A disadvantage is that it is a little TOO aggressive (it flags VNC as a trojan). But once you "teach" it that your remote access programs are ok, it is pretty good (for a MS product).

Results: This is what pissed me off, although My system suite managed to remoner all theser trojans, they were put in my computer by east update from V-com which powers my virus updates,. In essense every Trojan I got rig of came from the oprogram that is supossed to protect me, no wonder Iwant to switch to something else. My wife just got rid of norton becasuse it slowed her laptop to a craw, shwe installed AVG instead.

More than likely these files are being reinfected by system restore, windows will on rebooting of the machine, do a background check of the system to see if their are any corrupted files, and if there are, it will recover them from the image file it created, system restore will not differentiate between programs and viruses etc, it just images the hdd, and uses it as a recovery tool, i never use system restore, its deactivated on all drives, for the simple fact if a program crashes or has a problem and needs to close, next time you reboot, it will restore a good copy from the image file without user intervention, and this could be the reason for your continuing infections. My suggestion is to turn off system restore and clean the infected files and see if the reinfection occurs again, if so then use the tech support on your program to get further advice even free versions give limited support.

Master Apprentice unclerob is correct about running your software from Safe Mode. AVG has a reputation as a superb, free anti-virus program. I use AVAST, which is also free, and have found it very effective. Upon initial install it will reboot your machine and run a complete system scan from the boot system. It will detect infected Restore Point files and clean/delete them, too. I also have to agree with Master Apprentice unclerob about Ad-Aware and Spybot (for free solutions) being effective at removing unwanted spyware, malware and adware. In addition, you may want to try Zone Alarm for an excellent, free firewall versus the System Suite software you are using. Zone Alarm also has upgraded versions for a price that include antivirus and ad/spyware components (Zone Alarm Pro). I use this along with Spy Sweeper and find that Spy Sweeper can't find any ad/spyware after a sweep by Zone Alarm Pro.

I have taken some of the advice here. and the problem seems to have stopped. thank you all for the advice.

 

system suite uses TREND for its virus protection BTW.

as klong as PC's exhist security will be a never ending issue. every time a new prog comes out claiming to be a complete be all end all of security.. theres 500 new security risks it wasent designed to handle... your best bet would be to grab a couple of the better spyware removers and run them often...as well as have a couple of AV progs... i only travel trusted sites and have a secondary blank* pc for surfing the net.






* blank pc as in it has nothing on it but the os with no personal information. after finding a site i like and wish to trust i then will visit that site with my main PC...

Norton is Great and NO Not a Virus for one's Computer
I run Norton, MS Defender, Spybot, Adaware, Zone Alarm and System Mechanic

All these seem to catch things and Never let anything serious "Infect" or "invade" and ruin or bother mysystem

I have been doing this for years and have been safe from Viruses and Infections


But in a sense one can not Prevent the new things being invented and slipping into one's computer

The best thing is to let these Programs "Catch" what it can and delete it and in that sense keep your system Protected.
