This just happens to be a Holiday weekend, and not just any holiday. Memorial Day with all its other significance is also the unofficeal start of the outdoor BBQ season.
So before all the grandfathers, fathers, uncles, brothers and the rest of the male population goes out to stock up on beer and ice for the cooler and briquettes and starter fluid for the grill a few fine points need to be gone over again.
1. Having the grill next to the house is not convenient, it's down right dumb!
2. You do not clean the grill by putting extra starter fluid on the coals and use your lighter to start it. Our eyebrows have finally grown back, haven't they?
3. Never leave the grill unattended, your dog likes meat also.
4. A reminder from the local Firefighters, you know the guys your wife and sister thought were cute when they "doused your flames last year". Wet down the area around the grill and keep the hose handy is case you over do the starter fluid. It also comes in handy to hose yourself down after the first six pack!
I wish everyone a very happy Memorial Day Weekend, and take a moment to reember why we celebrate it.
