window frame unaligned

I am having a problem with my window frame top & bottom not being aligned with the sides when in the small windows mode (i dont know what the tech. name is), but when I maximize the window the top and bottom aligns with the sides ok? Any ideas on what could cause this?

It is a skin Im creating, and this is my first time ever even trying to create a skin, and Ive never used photoshop before a week ago, so Im a little embarresed about putting up a screen shot. But here they are.. the first one is in maximized and shows how the borders align alright, the second one is minimized and shows how they dont align...Im wondering if I need to change some margin settings or something like that in skinstudio...

That is a little odd. Does the same thing happen at the lower right corner in a mirrored fashion? Looks like the geometry of the left border changes when restored to a normal window. I would check to be sure your sizing margins are set to exclude just the beveled part of each graphic. Might be helpful to post the individual images you are using for the left and bottom borders, as well as the sizing margin settings for both.

It may have something to do with the unusually large border you are using - Windows itself may have a problem with a border that big (though I don't know that). You might try incrementally decreasing the overall size of the border with graphics of various sizes to see if there is a maximum size Windows can digest without distortion when the window is in the normal state. Maybe someone who knows the answer to that question will jump in before you spend some time on it, but not sure what else to do.

the bottom horizontal looks like the same graphic
the verticals don't

Try adjusting the Frame Edge Margins for the side frames, the margins tell WB what part of the image to tile or stretch. Just by seeing the little bit of your image you should set the margins close together somewhere around the center of image.

Thanks for the input. Like I said, im a beginner at this and really dont know much about margins, but I'll mess around with them and see what happens..also, maybe it is just to big, I realized it was rather large, but it kind of needed to be large to go with the theme I want to portray (some kind of antique radio or cabinet or something).

Wow Cavan1!! your a genius!! it worked! I actually restarted from scratch thinking it would be easier than figuring out margins, and had the same problem. For some reason I thought the margins indicated where the image was placed. I actually had to move the margins away from each other out to the edge of the image and not the center. It istill is a little off, because it is hard to estimate the exact positioning, and I may be a pixel or so off in my photoshop layering.. But at least I have the main problem solved, just needs a little adjusting. Thanks much!!

Took me awhile to really understand how the margin settings (both sizing & content) influenced the appearance of the graphic in the skin. You really have to play around a bit & make some "mistakes" to see the effects. Also have a look at the Margins section (I know, seems redundant) - it controls how the "edges" you placed outside the sizing margins are painted (tile vs. stretch). Have fun!

Hey kbmartin, glad to have been able helped. As for the size of image, I don't think there is any limit to the size of frames but the bigger they are more tweaking of margins settings may/will be needed to get frames to line up.
