picture color scramble

Hi guys I really need your help, I've created a logon pic, and I really like it. But when I click save and apply it gives you a preview, the color is scramble, anyone know why? Or has anyone else experience this? the picture is fine though, only when I apply it to logon studio the color becomes scramble a bit. I try to restart my comp and at the logon screen it change to the pic that I created, but the color is a bit scramble please help! oh and you can only use bmp images right? no jpeg?

Yes that is right, but muat be a true bmp, not a jpg just renamed to jpg.
As for the colors getting scrambled, that is a new one to me, the bmp image is a full color image, therefore no color palette issue like a bootskin can have as the palette for full color images is all 16.7 million colors.
If bmp are true bmp and not another image renamed I have to idea what would cause the colors to scramble.

the original file was jpg, then I use psp to save as a bmp file. Since logon studio dont accept jpg but only bmp. I dont get it, the pic is fine when you view it and all, only when I use as a logon pic the color become scramble a bit. any help to fixing this problem? I tried changing the bmp to 256 bmp, 16 bmp using paint from xp but those format quality is so bad look nothing like the original. the 24 bit one is the one, but why does the color scramble on logon studio??? I desperately need help

Hold on, thinking, by scrambled do you mean blotches of white or blue in image.
If so, you have the center panel set to stretch, set it to fixed then set pic width and height for your screen res, for height minus size of top and bottom panels (total of both) if using them.
If this is the problem, using the term scrambled, made me think like in a bootskin mixed up colors. If it is the blotches of white or blue this will happen with most jpgs converted to a bmp, not enough info in image so it kinda tears apart when stretched. I have even had it happen with a few images that were rendered as a bmp.

Could also be caused by the "Mask Color" ..... maybe?

Cavan1 I think you got the answer to my problem. yes the picture has some blue color on it, its not really that bad, but their are blue colors on them. Ok now if you guys can help me fix it? Cavan can you please explain a bit more for me? So do I need to change my pic size? I dont even know what the height is for both top and bottom panel, yes I have top and bottom panel. Can someone give me the step to fix the problem? thank you so much

ok I just tried it, my center panel is set to fix already, so I set the pic width and height as my screen res, but the blue blotch is still there, now that u mention it, it does look like its tearing. then I tried to change height but still doesnt work, anyone know how to fix it?

hey guys I figure out the problem! I just need the solution to fix it now, I know what that color is after playing around with it, it's the first color and last color thing in the center panel. thats why there is the color on my pic, I tried changing the color and there it is on my logon pic. anyone know how to set it to no first and last color??? or transparent? if someone know please help me out, thanks alot

For center panel set firstcolor and last color to dead black 0,0,0. Even though it should be by default, make sure mask color is also dead black.

If that does not work I am stumped, this type of image distortion should not happen with center panel Style set to fixed.
If you want to try setting pic width and height you can get info for top and bottom panel by clicking on them in preview or in the Elements window, top right in editor.
For say 1024x 768 res, set width at 1024, set width at 768 minus top and bottom panel heights.

yeah thanks cavan I set it to black and the color is gone, now my picture is normal again. I thought I was just lucky by looking at my pics and set the color to black to closely match that part, or is it when u set it all black it become transparent? Anyways thanks again for all your help, I appreciate it alot!
