Add effects to your Windows experience

Stardock has released WindowFX 3.0.  WindowFX adds special effects "fx" to your Windows experience.  Effects include shadows under windows, min/max/close/open animations, window dragging effects, window scaling, window tiling, alt-tab task switching options, taskbar preview thumbnails, and much more.  WindowFX when combined with WindowBlinds can give your Windows XP system a next-generation Windows look and feel. The two complement each other (and are developed by the same team within Stardock).

WindowFX 3 takes advantage of your video card to provide the effects without slowing down your computer.  Stardock does caution that it requires a reasonable good video card with modern drivers to get the most out of the program.  WindowFX is, bar none, the most advanced visual enhancement utility for Microsoft Windows. No other program comes even remotely close to what it can do. 

You can download it right now for free and see for yourself.  The full version of WindowFX is $19.95 or can be purchased with Stardock's Object Desktop which is $49.95 and includes WindowBlinds, IconPackager, WindowFX, DesktopX, RightClick, SkinStudio, IconDeveloper and much more.

I'm having problems with menu animations leaving behind artifacts and garbage all over the screen....

I hate to say it but that sounds like a video driver issue. There isn't a lot we can do on our end if the video card isn't cleaning up the artifacts. Make sure you have the latest drivers.

Latest build of WindowBlinds... says: «You have Stardock WindowFX running. Please be aware that WindowBlinds 5 is not compatible with WindowFX 2.11 or 2.19. WindowFX 2.5 beta which is compatible with WindowBlinds 5 will be released later this year»

Latest ATI Radeon 9800 pro drivers. If the latest Catalyst drivers are not compatible, that certainly seems like a windowfx problem.

Same problem with this latest beta build of WindowBlinds and latest build of WindowFX (just after WindowFX installation with many reboot) --> https://forums.stardock.com/?ForumID=166&AID=115311

I'm experiencing an annoying problem related to WB5, in which almost every time I restart Windows I have to manually kill a number of crashed processes ("xxx is not responding, click to end it manually..."). Usually (but not always) the sequence is:

explorer.exe
explorer.exe
WB5TrayContainer
Connections Tray
MCI Command Handling Window

I'm loving this!! I'm only using a few of the effects, because I really don't want to over burden my video card, but all animatinos that I'm using so far are just fabulous!!!


Okay, Brad... Now about Icon Packager!
I hear through the grapevine that it's close to being released with some bug fixes??

Lotherius, are you using TweakUI? If you have the OS menu delay settings set to 0 via that, you can get repaint issues with the submenus under Start.

Actually... yes. Good point (that tweak autoloads on my compy of XP when I install, one of the registry tweaks I've set)...

Moving the slider over 3 notches is an acceptable workaround. I like the quicker popup speeds, but can deal with the delay to prevent painting issues with WindowFX...

That line is in the blurb about WFX, but I don't believe it should be "losing" Maybe closing?

I like the taskbar preview, but its useless. It isn't always on top. So what's the point? Like I'm going to minimize all my programs so I can see what's in the taskbar hmmmm.

Otherwise its a terrific product as always. The updated Alt+Tab is very nice, although a bit jarring at first.

This program is a F**king blast!! So incredably cool!! Great job you guys!! Well worth the price of admission. it slows the computer down a bit but hey what do you expect! I just turn it off when I have to do some real work on the computer in Photoshop. Very very fun and cool stuff!! You guys are going the right direction with this thing

The taskbar previews should always be on top.  Unless your taskbar itself is not.

WFX and PSP 10 don't get along at all. Seemed to work okay with everything else though.

No problems to report here, and I'm turning on features left and right on my capable-but-old machine with only a minimal hit to performance. I swear it feels smoother than 2.x did. How do you folks do it? Yet another fantastic effort!

I just thought of something this program needs. It needs a drag-able application selector like DesktopX has so that you dont have to search for EXE's to make a particular window semi-trans.

Shareware version is too crippled to judge (I wouldn't expect a fully functional version but this is a joke). Oh and the config utility trys to initiate an outbound internet connection which plays havoc with my firewall. Why?

How is it "too crippled"?  It includes a ton of different things in there.  Feel free to let me know of any progrma out there that does as much as the free version of WindowFX?
