I realize this isn't the best forum to pose this questions, but it appears many of you folks understand registry manipulation better than the technicians at Dell. New computer, a couple of applications installed, a couple of supplied applications uninstalled.
I'm one of those sort that doesn't like much for themes beyond the Windows Classic; don't want to mess with any other styles. So I set desktop properties to suit me, but when I reboot, the Windows XP Style shows up under the Windows and Buttons drop down on the Appearance page in Desktop properties.
I have searched high and low in the registry and found more than I feel comfortable modifying, though I've made several attempts. (Yes, I have a back up of the registry, current to before I started futzing in there.)
The seven Dell technicians that coached me for 4.5 hours did little to resolve this. I was hoping one of you might be able to steer me to the property registry location, offer comment on adjustment to the appropriate registry setting, and I'd go from there.
I would comment that there is MS software installed on here identified as "Plus!". Is it possible that this is involved? Came with the machine and not something I'm even interested in pursuing. I noted several entries in the registry.
Appreciate any and all support.
