Hi guys, thanks for the quick replies ...
thomas-k: I have the setting "Use automatic colour for the start menu" set to "On", so no strange colours are in use.
I'll upload a screen copy next
Basj: I have a large desktop screen so I had the icon size set to huge. I've changed them one step at a time, all the way down to medium and still no icon names. That was in the configuration menus > Advanced Options. I've currently got them set to extra large.
If I right click on the icons directly, that sub menu is set to icon size small. Can I ask why there are two different settings for icon size please?
Thanks
The issue here is there are two settings.
The one you have altered controls the global size of the icons, i.e. the base size of an icon. This is something the original Windows 10 menu does not have.
The other one which is set to small controls the size the Windows 10 style menu uses itself for that icon. Small is the smallest unit, Medium is 2x2, etc. This is the same as in the original Windows 10 menu. It allows for icons in a group that take more space than others.
You just need to set your icons to medium using the right click menu if you want them to use the medium icon (and have text) and then size down the global setting smaller or things will be very big.
