Explorer.exe instability

Having trouble with OS instability, mainly seems targeted on explorer. I found that if I just use WB - I have no issues, however once I start using DesktopX, XP becomes so unstable that I end up with a rebuild.
I installed WB and DesktopX on my partners PC (he's running the new 64) and had exactly the same scenario play out. Just WB - no problems but as soon as DesktopX went on (and used) - same story and now he is looking at a rebuild

Any assistance would be appreciated
