As I understand it the official release date of WB5 is next Tuesday.
In the interiim, Stardock Central is asking me to upgrade from version 4.96[b].003 to version 4.99[rc].006
Is this the "official" version of WB5? If not, is there some reason I should bother with the hassle of uninstalling/reinstalling yet another interim beta version of WB5 only to have to uninstall/reinstall it when the final product comes out next week?
Also, in Brad Wardell's "State of Stardock" post the other day, he mentioned that "If you turn off the Windows XP theme service, WindowBlinds 5 uses substantially less memory than Windows XP does by default and speeds up the performance of Windows XP while making it look a lot better."
For the non-hacker/technically challenged among us, how does one go about this procedure? What are the risks to turning off something that I assume is part of the basic Windows program?
On a purely pecuniary note, I upgraded to Object Desktop from stand-alones back on 11-10-05. I am assuming that the "official release" of WB5 is considered to be part of that package and I will not be paying anything additional for it. Correct/incorrect?
And finally, when the official release of WB5 comes out next week, will the WindowBlinds4 listing finally disappear from my Stardock Central program list?
Thanks for any and all reponses.
