Some programs do not display changed folders...

Hi, I used Iconpackager to change my cursors and folders according to a Mac OSX theme. Things seemed to work well. All of my folders and cursors look changed when purusing my system using Explorer. However, when I use some 3rd party software (e.g., bzFinder and looca, both freeware Mac Finder clones), the folders are displayed in their default windows state. On another machine, I used FlyakiteOSX to change my folders and icons. The third party software shows the folders in the changed state (not in the default Windows state) on that machine. How can I get the 3rd party software to recognize the Iconpackager folder changes? What's the difference in system changes between Iconpackager and FlyakiteOSX, at least as far as the 3rd party software is concerned? Thanks... MSMS

You should be able to right click on any icons, go to properties, and click the Icon tab to change the icon image for any icons.

I assume this is what you meant by "displayed in their default windows state". If not, could you supply a screenshot or elaborate further on your problem?

I applied the Mac OSX theme using Iconpackager. All folders, for example, appear blue (as they should) in Windows Explorer. It would appear the folder icons have been changed. However, if I fire up one of these third party programs (which act like Windows Explorer), they show the folders in their default, yellow folder state. Why? How do I get them to recognize the new folder icons, as they do on the machine I used FlyakiteOSX to change the icons. On that machine, these programs show the folders in their blue, changed state.

take the shot, post it on the web somewhere that does hosting - i use photobucket (free) once it's uploaded there, copy the HTTP url that's generated and paste that in the box that pops up here when you click 'image'.

Okay, the first shows shows My Documents in Windows Explorer...

At work this same finder clone displays the folders in blue, as I would expect. Iconpackager shows the folder icon to be blue.

After using different programs, I realize none of them see the folders as blue (as Explorer does and Iconpackager thinks it has set according to the Mac OSX theme). If I use MS Word, for example, and choose open, it displays the folders as default yellow. Thus, I don't think IP is setting the folder icon correctly. I tried reapplying Windows default and then reapplying the Mac OSX theme in IP but I get the same results.

I see quite a few other posts that seem to have similar problems.

There are a lot of proggies that will inherently use the default windows icons, I think is a normal thing. For example, The GIMP will use XP-like icons for folders. ZipGenius also will use default windows folder icons. I never saw it as a problem, but I guess if you want all of your icons associated with IP, there has to be a way besides manually changes icons for every prog that doesn't apply IP icons...hope you find a way to satisfy your need. Again, on my office computer, I used FlyakiteOSX to change the icons (which I don't want to do on this machine because it adds too much additional overhead), but other programs see the folders in the changed state, not the Windows default state, including Word and the other programs I alluded to here.

I bit the bullet and installed FlyakiteOSX on this machine, tweaking things to try to minimize the resource hit. I see now that it installs its own version of shell32.dll to create "true" system folder icons.
