I do not know if there is an easy fix, due to your mentioning of the data source issue with WB5 beta.
The first thing I would try is clearing the IconX cache (done by deleting the IconX cache folder).
Normal procedure for clearing cache is:
1 - Save current theme
2 - Unload the program in question
3 - Go to the correct folder and delete the program cache folder, all of which are located in "C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder (note - the Local Settings is a hidden folder)
4 - Restart the program, which will now start with the default settings and thus allow you to troubleshoot the programs functionality at nominal settings.
For a mini tutorial on clearing the cache, you can go here http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?SID=5463&AID=82461
For troubleshooting purposes, you may want to unload all programs except the Firewall and Anti-Virus, and return Windows to the default theme during the testing of the suspect program. This will allow you to narrow down the process or program that is using up the CPU cycles.
Again, this would be step #1 in troubleshooting, and Uninstall/Reboot/Reinstalling would be the last resource. Other steps would be available from the various people here at WC who wish to help.
