What they are, are things that are shortcuts or helpful little pieces that hover over your desktop. For me, they are things that you most likely dont really need. All they are, are just GUI pieces that can, in some situations make things easier for you. For example...I (after reading someones blog on here), installed Konfabulator. I havent been able to find anything of actual value from any of the widgets they have. For example, they have a temp gauge. Well, I already have a temp gauge on my task bar that tells me the accurate temp, as well as opening up to give me a complete weather forecast and alerts. They have other stuff too, but from what I can tell, they arent that accurate or are rather pointless.
