At one time I believe he mentioned one for doing a clean reinstall of SDC and the programs |
Sorry, I have been busy at work, so have not put this one together yet - but I have permission from Brad to use the images required for my tutorials, and many should be up toward the end of this month.
On Per Bohlin's issues:
1 - The splash screen shows when the "MCP smart startup" option is selected in "Stardock Central > Tools > Settings > "enable MCP smart startup". If you want the splash screen to show, just enable (or toggle by deselecting/reselecting the option if already selected).
It's the Icon X not loading issue maily, but I also do not see Windowblinds in the icontray and at startup |
IconX has been exhibiting some inconsistencies with regards to running at start-up, so clearing the cache may help. Make sure to save your theme and unload IconX before clearing the cache (which means deleting the IconX cache folder). After clearing the cache, you can try to reload IconX and apply your theme, and then reboot to check for loading at startup (assuming you select this option in the IconX configuration dialog).
If you are running WindowBlinds 4.x and the system tray icon is not showing, you might try right-clicking the Taskbar > Properties > click the "Customize" button in the notification area section, and look to see if the icon is listed in the Current Items or Past Items. If so, see if the "Always hide" option has been selected - change to "Hide when inactive" or use the "Restore Defaults" button to reset the notification area icon settings.
Note - if you are running WindowBlinds 5 beta (version 4.90, not 4.95) then the WB tray icon is not part of the program. It (the tray icon) was restored in version 4.95 - so this would be the reason the missing icon.
Complete uninstall/reinstall:
This procedure should be the last course of action in most cases, and "only" applies if you are removing "ALL STARDOCK PROGRAMS that are listed as installed in Stardock Central".
If you decide to perform a complete uninstall, you can use the following procedure:
1 - Start IconPackager (if you are running it) > Tools > Restore all Icons > click "Yes" to confirm > click "OK" to apply.
2 - Repeat step #1 for the "Restore all Cursors" and "Rebuild Icon Cache" options under the Tools menu in IconPackager.
3 - Unload WindowBlinds
4 - Deselect any options to "Run at startup" (Run when Windows starts) option in other programs, and/or widgets.
5 - If running LogonStudio or Bootskin, start the program and select the default Windows XP theme.
6 - Save any skins/widgets/themes to a temporary folder for use after reinstalling
7 - Right-click the desktop > Properties > Themes tab > select Windows XP in the Theme drop-down list > click "Apply".
8 - Start Stardock Central > select and uninstall each program listed as "installed"
9 - Reboot the computer
10 - Go to "Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > select Stardock Central > click "Change/Remove" > select the "Custom" option, and click "Next" > click the "Select All" button, and then click "Next" until the uninstallation process begins.
Note - you will probably see a "Remove Shared Component" dialog pop-up during the uninstallation. Selecting the "Yes to All" option will remove all shared files, and is only used for complete uninstall procedures to either remove the programs permanently, or to allow for a clean install of the programs).
11 - After uninstallation of Stardock Central is complete, reboot the computer, and then delete any Stardock, Object Desktop, or SDCentral folders in the following locations:
- C:\Program Files
- C:\Program Files\Common Files
- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
- C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data
- C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp
12 - Reboot computer
13 - Reinstall Stardock Central
14 - Use the directions here http://corkyo.wincustomize.com/Articles.aspx?SID=5463&AID=83625 to reinstall the Object Desktop programs.
That should give you a clean install.
