Problems with Onfolio

Okay, apparently the email support team isn't going to be able to provide any assistance. Hopefully the masses have something to offer. Here's what I emailed earlier:

This is a problem I noticed some time ago doing a trial of Onfolio with
WB4.5 (or earlier). I had forgotten it and just purchased Onfolio and it
still happens with the latest WB5.0 betas as well.

Apparently Onfolio uses custom menu graphics and WB paints over them or
something. With WB5 right now I get a blank translucent menu on any Onfolio
menus. I can add an exclusion for the Onfolio Desktop application and that
fixes it but Onfolio is mainly used as a browser sidebar. The only way to
make it work in Firefox and IE is to completely exclude those applications.
Is there another fix for this issue? Is it a known problem?

Adding Onfolio to your Per applications (like you already did) is the best eay to deal with this problem. I don't think there is any other solution out there.

The search option is on your left hand side (scroll down a bit). Enter your search word and choose 'Forum' from the dropdown list.

On the forum page of WC you have the following boxes (Blue frame with white font) on the left hand side:

The 'Browse Site' Box is the one with the search function. By default 'Articles' is chosen, but you can set it to anything you want in the dropdown list.

I did a find with FF for 'search' and it lit up search in the browse site box.

Thanks for assumption that I'm completely oblivious "scorpio". I'm telling you, in IE and Firefox both, I don't have that ANYWHERE. When doing a page search for "search" gets nothing, it's safe to say IT'S NOT THERE. On the left I have the first block: Forum Options with menu items: Forums Home, Submit New Post, My Posts followed by the block: Recent Forum Posts.

I do not have any search box, as I said.

[Edit] Ok, NOW I know what's up. I'm going to https://forums.stardock.com to get here which uses the same database but the interface sucks. Loading the forums from Wincustomize gets a different interface. Thanks Aufisch!

Of course I still have the Onfolio/Windowblind incompatability issue that I was hoping to get recognized as a bug. From email support I just got a useful form response:

Windowblinds can sometimes have problems skinning programs that draw their own windows. What you need to do is open the Windowblinds config and under “Per Application” add an exclusion for the program you have having problems with.

What this will do is stop Windowblinds from trying to skin the specified program. So the program will function like Windowblinds is not loaded.

In addition, are you able to email us the details of the program? Name, version number and developer/publisher? This is so I can add it to the bug-tracking database and we can work on making our software more compatible with it.

I would definitively do this caffiend. There is hardly a program out there that does not clash with another program. From the screenshots on the Onfolio website it seems that the program is using its own skinning engine, this will naturally clash with the WB skinning engine and I don't think much can be done about it. However, the more Stardock is aware of programs clashing with WB (and Onfolio is not exactly a mainstream program) the better the chances they can work out a solution to this problem in the future.

BTW, thanks for making me aware of this program, I sure can use it!

I was thinking about that this earlier today (too tired last night) cuz I remembered looking for a search over there. They don't have one there.

Hey Caffiend - sometimes that which does not like to be skinned may work if only skin the task bar is checked - down near the bottom of the list in per appl - not always, but sometimes

Yeah, I gave them the details. I did get another reply from the same support person later today that shows he actually read my problem. No solution, but he is going to check it out too. Hopefully they can add some sort of detection for apps that do their own graphics and ignore them rather than try to compete with them for painting. Onfolio is aware of the problem but only a few people have mentioned it to them so while they may try to address it it's not a priority for them. I'm not sure if they can do anything other than revert back to standard Windows menus though.

Thanks, but I tried all the different exception modes. I don't mind having an exclusion for the Onfolio Deskbar (stand alone app) but I really don't like excluding my browser entirely given that it's one of my most used apps. Maybe I can find a decent Firefox theme that's a close match and get by that way.
