Some site improvals....

A thread for posting your views on what you'd like to be fixed on this site or improved,even some new ideas...Feel free to leave your opinion. This thread is NOT a complain or flaming or "you ain't doin a good job" thread. It is only suggestions, comments, ideas, bugs, views of my experience with the new site. I don't complain,i only observe.

My views:

- Fix some annoying adds on subscribers page,i see them mainly on Popular Stats pages.
- Show some figures in the poll section. Also i find it a bit degraded,i remember in the old site the weekly poll was one of my fav activities around the site.Maybe raise it to the top of the left bar/division,under WC Store add.
- Integrate a better search engine,especially for articles and forums and also add more thorough search tools (ability to search within article contents,search by title,author,etc).
- Add last months Featured Skins page. I miss this from the old site.
- If possible,cause it is alot of work,allow subscribers to choose a customized interface,the ability to choose wich panes will show or not in the page.
- Add all admins e-mails in the WC About Site page.
- Fix some errors in the texts of About Site. (E.g. Admins names,etc). Also describe the role of avatars on the site.
- Put some more honorifics. Also allow subscribers to create their own honorific (although i'm hesitative to this,may create a bit of a chaos and brake hierarcy of the site).
- There was once i remember a plan to make a third kind of division between WC users (Except Access Class and User Level) called Experience Level,is it still in projects or it has been rejected?
- In Account Information options include the option to show phone number,address in My Profile. Also give the ability to change Marital Status and Children.
- I'm still unable to view the Personal Page Information in My Account.
- Maybe add a small shoutbox to the site. It would be nice.
- Allow subscibers to see who's on-line,at least in friends list.
- Add instant messaging for subscribers.
- Maybe is time for another subscription drive?
- Put one standard counting system for all kind of statistics cause it is getting confusing out there! I mean i see other stats in My Stats on Personal Site,another stat in My Skins, a different one in Popular and so on. I know much of this is due to different time changes,but if possible it would be better in my opinion to keep the total downloads into account for all kind of statistics. (Do keep the WC Subscibers stats for contest only purposes and not to count part of the statistics).
- In Most Popular sites page could you add the name of the skinner beside the site? It would increase visibility.
- I don't remember if there is an option to select which galleries to show on the left pane,but if there isn't i would like it back. I remember in the old site you could choose which gals to show.
- Maybe allow animated avatars,although that would be a killer for 56k users in large threads in the forum.
- Allow avatars to show in comments in a skin.
- Update current WC Premium Suites in Subscribers Resources and maybe add some new ones. Idea: Each year freely give away last years Premium Suites for Subscribers to download and older suites freely available to the public.
- Add a clock beside Welcome Sir ...... with local time showing.
- Make the panes minimize-maximize. Dunno if this needs much work.
- Provide some site skins,although not a priority.
- Add all software sites that are shown here in WC in Software Page.
- Maybe it is time to withdraw some galleries since some programs are not in use anywore. (E.g. Colorpad,KewlPad). I can't even find a place to download these.
- Add Journal or Calendar for subscribers on their Personal Site.
- For grading allow half-stars ratings. That is to keep rating fair. There are times i would give half-star up or down and i simply can't. And difference between 2.5-3 Stars does count.
- Put some more awards and shields. (100000,500000,1000000 download shields - bronze,silver,gold). Also bronze,silver,gold for first three in all categories (skins,articles,comments,etc). Also special badges for contests and GUI Olympics winners. Also different side shields according to Access Class or User Level.
- Allow more featured skins for Subscribers to show on Personal Page.
- Allow commenting in Photo Albums.
- Apply ability to categorize Recomendations on Personal Pages.
- In My Profile on the side of the Personal Site Link,but a Java link to site description by the author.
- Have a new page with Subscribers birthdays noted on a calendar for quickly viewing who is celebrating or just post Birthday in My Profile instead of just how old the user is.
- In Store maybe create a Print Shop where users can select a wall they like and have an Art Print - Poster of it. But this still needs thinking and maybe some contracts with Authors.
- Add some more emoticons for general use.

These are just about all i suggest,propose,note,see on site. I hope that some of these get to be realized in the future (near or far away). Thnx for all the hard-work to all of WC Stuff and people who work to make it better.

- Add all admins e-mails in the WC About Site page.

Not all Admins/Wizops are likely to want to become the recipients of a squillion emails relating to the most recent 'drama' as perceived by their senders, so their private contact email addy should be optionally public only.

This is something a 'Personal Messaging' system would be able to cater for....another good reason for it being on my list of 'things I'd like to see here'....

Fair enough, it would be irritating to receive so much mail in one day. If only people just sent mails for proper reasons...

I have my fingers crossed for that feature!

For now i don't! I'm still on 56k and i now it's a pain in the ass to have pages with lots of animation! That is why i like WC Forums and hang over here instead of DA.

Subscription drive would be the only way to pay for all of that. They would have to re-re-biuld the site from the ground up again again.

But I like those features and fixes though.

The only thing I want is the removal of Smiley Central as advertsigin when your not signed in... I got people coming here to check the place out and get into skinning and they don't need spyware ads like Smiley Central.

DRemove it for the kids... the kids! (and the parents who have to fix the computers afterward.)

OK, I would like the friends online feature... and a signature... and animated avatars... and intersite messaging... and a calender... and a way to show my picked favorite wincusto articles on the front page of my site... as well as favorite skins... and more metals... and a works in progress forum and gallery section (sorry, the graphics section just doens't cut it)... and a different freakin default theme than this one... and more smilies... and pizza! I like pizza.

Well as i said already i don't expect anything to be fixed or to re-build the site. Just dropping some ideas for consideration, maybe for future projects. I don't demand anything to be done now,nor in the future, just pre-planing. Admins can give more thorough opinions on these as they are the ones in charge.
