I think various people maybe lost sight of what this thread was all about.
I, as an 'admin' of the site thought it politic and timely to explain what goes on behind the 'facade' of respectable harmony that is Wincustomize.com....what helps make it one of the 'nicer' places to be...while donning the odd new skin or two.
This thread was NOT intended as a sounding board for disparate egos of sedition or praise.
It was a simple and gentle reminder to all and sundry that the admins/moderators of the site that by and large maintain harmony and accord be soberly and silently respected for what they chose to give up in their own personal day to day lives....for the betterment of the 'skinning comunity' at large.
Sure it's nice to get supportive comments....but neither the supportive nor the antagonistic were requested.
It's called a 'heads up', a cognitive awakening, nothing more.
Those who chose this as a platform for asinine dissent do themselves no favour.
As one of the 'longer-serving' admins of the site I simply found it appropriate to show public support [myself] for my fellow moderators who, like me have been subjected to unwarranted discourse at various times here.
Having beeen a volunteer in Motor Racing....being both a FIM and FIA official for over a quarter of a century I am well versed in public perceptions of what people tend to take for granted.
Wincustomize's site admins/moderators are NOT to be taken for granted like street furniture. Without them you would be legless, and posting your works on a personal site...back of Bourke somewhere and famously noticed by the local tumbleweeds.....if you're lucky.
The reality of life at Wincustomize.com is that a private company [Stardock] finances the lion's share of the site to allow its existence, and various people, from coder to eager skin-contributor make it something desirable to be a part of.
The occasional miscreant hell-bent on upsetting the apple cart has no place here, as public opinion will 'demand' a rethink of attitude.
Groucho Marx said "I'd never join a club that would have me as a member"....but the reality is...to be a member you need to pull your weight, bend, rather than break, and strive to fit in. A club is a collective, not an ego.
Hopefully 'some' of this has made sense, though it's friday night, and those who know me are aware that bodes ill for cognitive thinking...
Thanks [on behalf of all the mods] to all those who have been supportive....[the others I cross off my Xmas list]....
